do you notice somthing? varity for god sake. the american standard series is ment to be a flagship line. give us some nice colours or shades. or hell, atleast let us pay extra for things like a matching headstock and custom colours.

But seriously, sign me up for the Signal Orange (either one) and the Nordic Blue!!!

funny you should mention the signal colours. i've repainted guitars in signal yellow, signal green and one year of signal orange.

the original fender custom color chart was modeled on general motors colors, not ford

i never said it was. i was just saying that was fords idea of the standard range of colours in the 1970's so when technology can give us any array of colours in solid, translucent, pearlesent or metallic. why are we stuck with a colour range of 10 or so for the flagship models?

Someone once said it best in the strings thread...

The people posting here aren't representative of the bass buying public. Often times they aren't even the best representatives of the majority of TB.

I hope they do listen to you guys for the new AV series, but meantime, go Mystic or go elsewhere for your custom colors.

Given your avatar, I'm surprised you have to ask that question.

Wow. Seven pages about blue. Sometimes I think we're worse than celebrity gossip sites.

Good man!!! You caught it! 'Twas the whole point of my rhetorical question. The Mystic Blue with maple FB does kind of resemble the SH signature - although the mystic is darker.

SHEEEEeeeee-it...For the A/B price comparison on Fender's website, I'd rather have the SH.

Glad to see Fender's expanding the color pallet a bit. Not crazy about the choices, though. It's definitely notable that they're offering a couple of models in the new colors. Previously, they had only offered the Am Std Precision 5 string and Am Std Jazz 5 string in 4 colors. The new colors expand that out to 6 colors, but you're still locked into certain fingerboard/finish combinations. And for both Am Std 5 strings the Mystic Red basses feature rosewood boards, and the Mystic Blue basses have maple fingerboards.

"Blue makes it look cheap, like a Squier!"

I don't understand how a color makes it look cheap. Squier or Fender, they look the same until you look very closely.

I'm also confused as to how a Squier looks cheap.
