I was fortunate enough to have grabbed a new avri 62 P this past October at a great price before all of this starting going on...Now I'm glad I did...I also just picked up a MIM Classic 50's from MF at a great price as well...And I agree that the Classic 50's is the way to go If the new AVRI prices get out of control...I'm also betting a lot of guys who were recently thinking about selling their AVRI's and picking up another one down the road again later on are re-thinking that as well now...

Interesting.

So pricing will get pushed up to price of Selects. A fair number of people voiced their displeasure at the price break point here. Fender also stated previously that they intend to continue to support the Select line which would surely have to push those up in price too?

I bleed Fender but dang, 2000-2500 puts you in the company of very serious instruments. Used USA Lakie, used Fender CS, A few used Sadowskys, and Lull.........not to mention opening the door for some high quality custom builders.

The FSB and LPB will likely go quick, depending on production numbers. The rest will be seen and available all year. The Seminole Red is interesting (if factual) and could go either way.

Fender seems to be working diligently to chase off those customers with mere mortal incomes.

A final note of interest. I was one of those guys that snagged a 62 AVRI P in 3 TS in the 900+ range. The date stamp on the neck and body was May 2011. It was from a high volume dealer. With 1.5 year old AVRI instruments remaining on the shelf (before blowout), I wonder what lead them to believe that sales will be brisk or even satisfactory at this price break point?

I think that I am irritated that in the end, this is going to cost me money. How does one avoid something like this ?

or this

The prices, if correctly assumed, do seem a tad high, but maybe only because Fender mismanaged expectations with the old prices.

The old AVRI line got almost unanimously positive reviews around here. I'm curious to see pics, but if these things come out of the factory with spot on fit/finish and QC, I think they will seriously compete with the likes of Lakland and AC.

As for pricing for mere mortals, the MIM Classic line and Roadworn lines are excellent values.

If the new AVRI's get the right body contour, I expect the prices of the Fullerton Reissues to decrease a little bit.

You're breaking my heart! I just started saving up with the final goal of a '62 AVRI
Your '62 isn't going up in price. In fact it'll probably be discounted since it's discontinued. The new Vintage series aren't anything like the old Vintage series. Look at the changes they made to the Am Vintage guitars this year. That's what's going on here. Different manufacturing processes and different instruments entirely. It's probably more fair to complain about price after you've put your hands on one.

Since the current ones will be discontinued, and there will be no slab boards on the new AVRIs, I believe that will become very hard to find used 62' AVRIs due to (1) Fender will stop producing them and (2) current owners of 62 will probably want to keep their slab boards beauties.

The harder to find, the more expensive it will get. Even though I just expect their prices to rise a little bit.

I have a contact saying that one of the P basses could be had for about $1900 shipped.

Sorry if i missed it when I skimmed the thread but is there any info on the blocks on the maple board '74 Jazz? I'm crossing my fingers for MOP instead of their typical black blocks. ..... I don't know if I could ever go back to 7.25" radius but I'd be very tempted for a four bolt with MOP blocks.

I saw pics of a couple yesterday. The Lake Placid Jazz looks pretty cool w/matching headstock. Surprised these aren;t on their site yet. I asked about an embargo date on this info but they said it was fine to publish. Could have them up on our site this week provided Fender gets us pictures. Wouldn't expect them to ship for a month or two though.

I dont see how those 58's are any different from previous 57's. They even had 57's in black in the 90's.

Yep, I am selling a 62 jazz bass and 57 P bass. I dont use a Jazz enough to keep it, but I think I need to hold onto the P bass a bit now and see where the pricing goes.

So, that's the new 58 vs the old 57.

I noticed that the headstock size and the spaghetti logo looks a bit incorrect (and basically the same as the old models). But, as expected, looks like they finally got the 12th fret dot right.

I can't wait to see the matched headstock beauties.

You know what will be nice to know? If they are going to keep the tradition of selling the AVRIs line with the covers unmounted. I wouldn't mind if they came pre-drilled from factory.

Looks to me like the new one might be solid gloss white, no see-through.
