I however wouldnt pay 400$ or more for a 12th fret dot and some little crap no one is going to notice, not even 99% of bass players and the ones that notice its totally "period correct" are going to also know its just a reissue?

Hell leave the 12th fret the way it is and just offer some better colors, and the old trans white on the 57 is way sexier then just regular white.

Whatever floats others boats, I wont be buying one. The reissues that just got axed will play just as nice, I am not going to be anal about it perfectly looking like a real '57. Are they cutting the bodies with a jigsaw? did they start finishing them in REAL nitro again? no. They wont ever be "correct", if you want correct you buy a real '57, or 62, or 63 or whatever year you want, not a reissue.

Also I hate covers so I am glad they dont come factory installed otherwise I would have to live with holes drilled in my bass I have no use for.
What is this 12th fret dot incorrectness I keep hearing about?

Can you give more of a hint? Less Than $1900? Less than $1800?

Here's something interesting. It's not AVS, but it's a Classic Series at $1400...for an MIM (though there's some debate that they might just be MIJ's that Music Zoo mislabeled Certainly looks like it says MIJ on the back of the neck). Seems everything is going up price wise this year (still ungodly cool though)

The AV's have always had the 12th fret dots on the fretboard spaced incorrectly from the originals. I frankly dont care, but people wanted to pick at it enough that fender re-did it. I personally dont care , its a reissue its not meant to be the real deal.

Sorry for the off topic tangent, but the White VI's do seem to be MIJ imports that Music Zoo is selling in batches.

The idea with the AV line revamp is simply to create accurate reproductions, for folks who want the originals, but can't afford them, or don't wish to take a prized original on a gig. Price point, obviously, is secondary.

I'm going to be saving a LONG time for that '58 P...

I'd rather have the 12th frett not correct but still have the AVRIs at the $1400 price tag then have it corrected and make them cost about $2000.

The spaghetti logo on all Fender reissue basses (except the Pino Palladino Signature) look different (less pointy, only people who really watch them side by side will notice the difference) from the originals. Even though most of people can't notice it, if you are going to spend more than $2000 on bass, you are supposed to get an exactly replica...
