That's an easy fix. You can buy the parts or even a kit and change that out. You could even wire it with the resistors (Fender doesn't) like the very earliest Jazz Basses to eliminate the crosstalk between the tone controls.

I know its tough to judge based on the stock photos..but the maple boards on those '58 pbasses seem to lack the yellowy glossy kind of look/finish that the '57 has. I love those glossy necks and the vintage tint..i hope it stays that way because that would really be a deal breaker for me..

i think its just the pictures

does this new AVRI line offer improvement in tone or quality? or is all of this purely aesthetic?

As far as tone goes, the guitars are supposed to be outfitted with all-new pickups, wound to specs gathered from vintage originals. I imagine it'll be the same situation with the basses.

No '51 "telebass style" bass, that's a HUGE gap and a lot of potential customers they decided NOT to attract.

yes its strange they only included jazz and precision. and only fretted ones. but i think they reserve the more special of designs for the CS

im still not sure, what are the differences between '62 and '63 precision?

I'm sure there could be several subtle detail differences between '62 and '63. My guess is that they introduced new custom color options in 1963, along with the rosewood veneer to replace slab rosewood boards which had been the norm from '59 through '62. Maybe new pickguard variations?

Well, might as well warn the wife now. 63 P in faded sonic blue and 64 Jazz in LPB.

Yep, I saw the train coming, heading straight for the checkbook.

'74 maple boards look badass. Glad to see that ugly orange tint is gone from the '50s ones too

Well, the new ones will still have a gloss finish, but they won't be nearly as tinted, they will be more accurate to the original colour of the necks. I love the necks on my AVRIs, but the orange tint has always seemed a bit much. I'm much happier to see the lighter tint, personally.

And no late '60s/early '70s Precision either! Of course, the latter could end up being a boat anchor...

Just had the talk with mine last night. If thee come in around the $1900 mark, there's a Sonic Blue P in my future.

Looks like they got the 63' P completely right.

Clay dots, correct logo with pat numbers and everything. Well done Fender!

I noticed that as well, can't wait to buy one of those on ebay.

I wonder how fast stratosphere on eBay will have bodies, necks, etc listed..

Anyway, love the Sonic blue P and Oly white 74 Jazz with maple neck. The red P and LPB Jazz are right up there as well.

Do we know whether the '74 Jazz model has the 70's pickup spacing? From the pics posted, seems as if it does???

Not 100% sure but I would be very surprised if it doesn't have 70s spacing
