There was nothing wrong with 3-bolt neck joint design. Bolts were bigger and of 2 sizes. My antigua Jazz from mid-late 70`s
was a Sunday example, superb neck, good sounding pups and sustain for ages.
I bought it used 83, seller insisted it was a 1976, but they say those in antigua finish were made in only 1977-79?
Sold it 96, when i thought i was done with playing, and would only to listen others.
Stupid ideas.

I guess Fender doesn't feel it necessary to reach out to the black artists? Would they also not be interested in the series? It's a legitimate question.
| Absolutely legit question. Speaks to that marketing question. Based on the video, it looks to me like Fender is generally targeting the 35+ white male crowd. And throwing a bone to the younger crowd. Or maybe the "country" crowd. Or maybe the young hipster country crowd. Maybe black players tend to go for the more modern sound. I'm 45 and white, and I love playing Motown and 60's and 70's rock and soul. I own a RI already and love it.
And fwiw, I went on youtube to see what Sugarland videos I could find. Country music just is not my thing, the songs sound the same to me. Just like all jazz songs sound the same to my wife, and many of my friends. But the thing I noticed is that the videos totally obscure Annie! Ripoff!!!! The live video that I looked at literally showed every player on stage, at least for a couple moments, except her! I finally found another one with her in it, an "AOL" unplugged kind of video, and there she was, in the back. She sounded good on the videos, and looked good on that one that I found. Sugarland looks to be mostly the dude and the chick and their band. Playing huge venues and making a living at it. |

All 11 of us are picketing FMIC until further notice.
(I am not a fan of Special Interest Lobbies can you tell?)

You guys need to do a little research before spouting off about stuff like this. Sugarland has been one of the top country acts for the last several years. I suspect they could have anyone they want playing bass but they obviously think she's a pretty good bass player. | Which of those players that you mentioned are CURRENT Fender endorsers? Hmmm?
Obviously Fender is going to approach their endorsers first. And I have little doubt that Annie from Sugarland has a Fender endorsement largely based on the profile of her gig. Look at the American music mainstream, and I suspect that most people would recognize Sugarland more for the horrific incident where their stage rigging collapsed and killed several people than knowing their material. |

Turn on any pop/country station in the US and you will hear them within the hour.
This thread has gone way off topic. Let's get it back on.
58 or 63 P....tough question. Jazz is easier, I'd take the 64

Might as well be Nerml McDermott, or Phil McKrakin. It's a pretty face to fit the image on stage. Ah, the ever rotating "bassist of: ...." Next week it will be Betty White. Makes no diff.

We all know that country artist are not well thought of in the forums. I don't care much for it myself but I'll be darned if I'm going to argue about talent (or lack-there-of) with folks I don't know or ever listen to....
I'm sure if this girl has a gig on that scale, she can play something.
So let's all bitch about Fender some more or drool or even argue!

Not the bridge cover holes, but additional ones. What's that all about? |
