I to would like to see a 64/65 J & P bass in the AV line. For the J it would have VVT and a rosewood veneer fingerboard. The P would be similar to a 62 but with again a veneer rosewood board. I like the reverse tuners on the 57/62’s, I would be OK if they were still used on the newer AV’s… Those features would be nice to see. After 65 the bound neck with block inlays came on the J.

BIG AMEN to both of these things. How about a late 60's candy apple red Larry Graham model?

And instead of picking '75 to reissue.....why not '74 instead? You get the far cooler "swoopy" lettering AND a 4 bolt neck with the neat-o binding/block inlays. AND WE WANT PEARL/WHITE BOUND MAPLE NECKS AS AN OPTION, DOUBLE U TEE EFF, I DON'T CARE ABOUT GEDDY LEE.

Many websites show the AVRI's as "arriving soon" as opposed to "sorry, this item has been discontinued". Too bad my gas will surely win before they are released.

Apparently not... It's back up now, totally revamped, and some interesting new stuff, especially in the P-Bass section.

Oooooh, I didn't know this existed. It just needs binding and maybe a few other color options for me to *really* complain about how much it costs, HAHA.

One other small find, the text on the AV landing page at least mentions basses:

The finishes on most new American Vintage guitars and basses consist of three coats: sealer, color and a topcoat, all of which are 100-percent nitrocellulose lacquer and are hence quite thin. This is a vintage-style finish treatment that lets an instrument "breathe" with a more natural resonance since it doesn't "constrain" the instrument's body as much as thicker and more confining modern finishes.

I think they have been doing this for a while now, I have a 2011 p-bass avri and the finish is THIN, VERY THIN. I think they are about as thin as the basses from CS, but instead of having a more yellowish sealer coat (very yellow, to be honest), its got a very thin and almost invisible transparent coat.

HOLY SCHNEIKEES it says pearl inlays are an option on the AVs!!!!!!! I had no idea. I'm definitely getting one of those this year.

Edit, I think that really just means: pearl inlays on rosewood only, as I cannot find a real world example of a pearl/maple '75 AV.

Yeah, I was shocked at how thin the finish is on my 2012 AV Jazz. It has to be almost 1/4th as thick as the finish on my 06 AV Precision. It also "relics" even faster than the old finish (which by the way is aging very nicely), with plenty of flakes already coming off, especially along the upper horn.

Re-reading this thread and laughed out loud yet again at this classic comment. Well played, sir!

I would like to see them use more accurate looking reverse tuners. The Gotoh tuners they've used the last 30 years just don't look right.

Looks like Fender has re-vamped the website a bit. Navigation is actually a little more user-friendly now. But when I checked things out, I noticed that the AVRI Precisions are now GONE. Perhaps Fender is going to re-launch the AVRI P-Bass at NAMM? They certainly changed around the AVRI Strat, Tele & Jazzmasters. So maybe the P-Bass is next?
