Also, a '59 split coil P w/rosewood.
And a mid '60s J Bass. | All of those are available as Squier Classic Vibes |

For the J it would have VVT and a rosewood veneer fingerboard. The P would be similar to a 62 but with again a veneer rosewood board. I like the reverse tuners on the 57/62’s, I would be OK if they were still used on the newer AV’s… Those features would be nice to see. After 65 the bound neck with block inlays came on the J.

I never understood.. of all the years to choose from, why did they pick the '75 jazz to reissue? | BIG AMEN to both of these things. How about a late 60's candy apple red Larry Graham model?
And instead of picking '75 to reissue.....why not '74 instead? You get the far cooler "swoopy" lettering AND a 4 bolt neck with the neat-o binding/block inlays. AND WE WANT PEARL/WHITE BOUND MAPLE NECKS AS AN OPTION, DOUBLE U TEE EFF, I DON'T CARE ABOUT GEDDY LEE.

The finishes on most new American Vintage guitars and basses consist of three coats: sealer, color and a topcoat, all of which are 100-percent nitrocellulose lacquer and are hence quite thin. This is a vintage-style finish treatment that lets an instrument "breathe" with a more natural resonance since it doesn't "constrain" the instrument's body as much as thicker and more confining modern finishes.

I think they are about as thin as the basses from CS, but instead of having a more yellowish sealer coat (very yellow, to be honest), its got a very thin and almost invisible transparent coat.

Edit, I think that really just means: pearl inlays on rosewood only, as I cannot find a real world example of a pearl/maple '75 AV.

It has to be almost 1/4th as thick as the finish on my 06 AV Precision. It also "relics" even faster than the old finish (which by the way is aging very nicely), with plenty of flakes already coming off, especially along the upper horn.
