| | | | io have to admit that Timemachine "51" looks kind of awesome though. I wish i could justify/afford one of those timemachine 59s with rosewood...perhaps the little blu squire is a nice 51ish bass? |

I have it on good authority: 1958 Precision Bass (maple) White Blonde
Black
Faded 3-Color Sunburst 1963 Precision Bass (rosewood) Olympic White
Some kind of red
Faded Sonic Blue
3 Color Sunburst

3 Color Sunburst | So, looks like there will be no slab rosewood boars on the AVRI Series.
I'm not saying that there's any big (if there is any) tonal difference between slab x veener boards, but I'm sure that the great majority os P-bass players would rather have a 62 than a 63. Not very smart move from Fender, in my humble opinion.

I remember that one of the reasons that Fender was making 62 reissues instead of 61 or 60, was because they wouldn't have to rename the series just in case at some point they had to start making veener boards instead of slab. |

3 Color Sunburst | So it's going from a '57 and a '62 to a '58 and a '63???? I'm sorry, but I'm really disappointed. What exactly did a '58 offer that a '57 did not?

At least the '63 has some neat new colors.

- Natural | The J's are a bit better. '74 J would still have the 4-bolt neck, right?
'64 J has VVT - and likely matching headstock for the Lake Placid.

By the way, yeah, it would be awesome if they make the 60s jazzes with matching headstock.

I'm not saying the 75 reissue is bad, there's a lot of famous bass players that made their career on 3-bolt necks (like Marcus Miller, Martin Mendez, and others), but, if I'm going to spend some good money on a Fender, I would like it to have a slab rosewood board AND a 4-bolt neck.
That's just me. |

I have never had more GAS than I had for the '57 white blonde. I ended up finding an awesome '08 for a song, but if I hadn't I would have bought a 57 for sure.
