I'm definitely interested in those pickups, though. Side-by-side humbuckings are gradually becoming more prominent in this industry, and I'm glad to see G&L come up with some.

+1
I'm relatively new to G&L yet honestly the thing that hit me was the wide range of combination given by L2000/L2500 (I got both carved top of them) elctronics

I mean, then I have any other possible bass with a three band equalizer

Why G&L, doin' it all better than anyother out there, decided to follow everyone else's path?

Cheers,
Wallace

I've owned a slew of G&L's and played the L2000 for years, but now own a few US JB2's. Quite frankly IMO the JB2 is the best playing instrument G&L has ever built and is better than any bouquet J bass. I just acquired another one that I plan on replacing the pickups with Duncan Hot Stacks and an Aguilar preamp. I think this a great move by G&L and puts them to compete with basses costing much much more.

Judging by the name, I'd say they do.

I don't get why some people here are coming down on this instrument. It looks like a revision of the JB-2 with more options added to it. Sounds cool.

Exactly! a 5 string version and maybe with min 18mm at bridge and IŽll be all over it.

It would be interesting to hear their new pickups. Lots of hum cancelling jazz pickups just can't cop that single coil sound in spite of all the hype.

And you are right. If this had 5 strings it'd be nothing more than my MIM Fender deluxe V. (after I put SCN pickups in it) Except for a couple of things. One of those would be it's actually mde out of decent wood rather than a bunch of sticks glued together and covered with veneer. And another would be that it (presumably) comes with that nice chunky G&L neck that I love so much on my L2500s.

Both those things would be reason enough for me to consider one.

+1 to that. It's the only thing holding me back from a five string G&L

Not a fan of Js. Would love a new SB-1. Boo to the 18v pre and no option to run passive.

Looks cool, but I hate it when they don't inlay frets that should be inlayed in an inlayed bass! lol

I mean, the 21st fret is lacking a dot!
