this thing is about as balanced as it gets!!
i play 4-5 nights a week and have used this bass for the past 3 weeks and its been great!

very easy to wear for a 3 hour gig. also did a session with it yesterday and it sounded very seriously badass!!

ill post a copy of the track if anyone wants to hear it.

Thumbs up I bought one

I bought a white one, I really like it. Really balanced well and light. Neck pickup is a nice deeper thump while the Bridge pickup has lots of attack. Between the two pickups and the tone can dial in just about anything.

I have a natural finish one of these on the way, from my extensive searching it seems to be the about the only one that has made it over to the UK so far.

I report back with some pics and thoughts once I get my greasy little mitts on it!

Scratch that... it seems they were incorrect about stock. I hate it when that happens... that's twice with GAK!

Mine has arrived this morning... though it looks like it's taken a bit of a pounding in transit! It wasn't particularly well packaged either.

The pole pieces on the neck pick up have fallen through the casing, so i'm going to have to spend a bit of time getting this in a playable state... fingers crossed that is the only problem with this purchase!

Upon closer inspection, this really doesn't look too great. There is a hair stuck to the lacquer on the back, the aforementioned pick up issue and the general build quality is pretty substandard for the price range, screws wonky all over the place, extremely cheap pots.

Not great from Gibson, USA made instruments are falling someway behind some of their far east competitors. This isn't even close to being in the same league as a Lakland Skyline for instance.

I'm going to take a closer look tonight to see if I can sort some of the issues out, but it sounds like this one will most likely be going back.

I just played one. Great feel, balance,& weight. Pickup tones are all there and fit & finish was fine. Not so fond of the textured satin finish. I'm getting one soon.

I believe time will tell with this new offering - it has some redeeming qualities. Who knows? It may one day be considered a classic

Sounds like a thousand-dollar bass to me! Hair, heh, heh.

Wow, that is a very similar body style! Closer yet than the earlier comparisons to the Mosrite. Here is a link to Cheesy Guitars page for the Musima: http://www.cheesyguitars.com/musima_..._deluxe_b.html

I'd rock the hell out of the Musima or the EB.

Cheesyguitars sucks, the owner of this site, has never had any of those guitars in his hands. The best part in his page is the Defil Kosmos story:

"Kosmos guitars were manufactured during the '80-s; favourite guitar of Polish heavy metal bands. "

This is the worst lie, that I ever heard. Having a Kosmos at 80's was more a reason to be embarassed than proud. It was clearly an era of Stratocasters, due to famous heavy metal bands live shows (like Iron Maiden). Kosmos had even no good hardware for playing heavy metal, because it was equipped with single coil pickups (every Kosmos with humbuckers was customized).

If you want a Musima bass, to me the best source to find it would be german eBay. It has a nice oldschool sounding (and surely far away from Gibson sounding). Here are the old samples (dont have this bass now, so cant make new):

I've never seen a two bolt neck before.

My 12 string, and jazz acoustic guitar has the same 2 bolt neck system. Most of Defil's had 3 bolts. Who needs more, if its properly screwedthen when you tune the bass the strings will do the rest.

Gibson basses

I don't spend that much time on TB , my music takes my time up . I do like to stop in to catch the buzz on new gear . I'm entertained by the knee jerk reaction to Gibson . My first work as a studio musician was in 1970 , with a new Les Paul . I had been using a Fender Telecaster , there was absolutely no comparison , the Gibson was real quality . Over the years I have owned quite a few basses in the $1-2,500 range and they have all disappeared except for my '70 LP . Last year I bought a "rootbeer" gold hardware DoubleCut LP . I don't get a jones over the looks , a bit tawdry , but it is the finest bass I've ever owned and it has super hot pu's . This mindless bashing of Gibson is just that , mindless , from underaged , probably relatively inexperienced wankers .
