Interesting. It says that the finish is Urethane and not Nitro, is that a typo?

Must be. I got a GC flyer with a pic of the new Fender 70's AV but the description was for the '64. It happens.

Oohhh, the white blonde one sure looks sweet, hope it yellows well with age! Now I'm torn between this and the 60th anniversary P...

The specs say the nut width is 1.735". That's a new one on me. I always thought P-Bass nut widths were either 1.75 or 1.625".

Also, like ggoat, I prefer the tinted maple board over the lighter version.

Custom shop has been doing them that way forever on NOS basses. Takes just a few years to naturally yellow.

The necks had those dimensions until a bit later when the C necks and optional B necks became the norm.

I like the looks, the neck will amber up as it ages. I like looking at @$$.

Looks very expensive for a pretty dull looking P, (not a big fan of black basses).

I would WAY rather have the untinted neck... if you've seen the AV's of the last few years the neck tint was pretty orange and IMO not very "aged" looking. The finish on these instruments does tend to yellow pretty quickly anyway. I can't wait to check out the new '63 AV Precision!

The 58's just look wrong without the tint, IMO. You can't really tell that it's a gloss finish either. I don't know...the whole 'accuracy' thing is bunk, between the mint pickguards, lack of tint and 'faded' sonic blue. Meh.

Still might buy one though.

Is there some major glue/fret sprout weirdness on the right lower edge of the burst 63 fingerboard on sweetwaters site, or am I crazy?

I really like the tinted neck on my Classic '50s and AV '57, and I prefer the two-color sb over the three-tone. Glad I got mine.

It's silly to complain about the tint. They're trying to re-create the similar way they made the originals which did not have tint.

I see they also corrected the shape of the chrome pickup cover to the correct flat-top intead of the rounded arch.
