I'm going to get a set of Labellas but I haven't decided on the rounds or flats yet and all the demos I can find are with rounds. Anybody know any songs that have a bass vi with flats. I know it wont sound exactly the same but it might give me an idea of how flats are going to sound. |

How are you guys enjoying your VI`s? Still happy with them?(I hope so!)
I`m about to bite the bullet and put a down payment for one and I`d just like to hear a few more positive things towards this bass.
Thanks!

Thanks! | Just got mine today but I really like it. Yeah its got the floppy E but I plan on getting some LaBellas very soon. The pickups sound fine the neck and middle get good bass sounds the bridge makes it sound more guitarish but sounds great with fuzz or overdrive. Its very clear sounding overall but you can take out a lot of treble with the tone knob and it will get muddy sounding. The tremolo is ok I don't really like them even on guitars but its not cheap feeling or anything like somebody has said. The finish is perfect can't find a single blemish on it Fender Mexico really seems to have this part down. I say get one put some new strings on it (or not its still playable with the stock strings just takes some finesse) and rock on. |

Thanks! | Still loving mine and I've had it a while now. The bridge pickup sucks but I expected that. I've already started the mods on mine. I installed the Fender mute and modded the bridge so that it will intonate. I'm planning to build a pickguard as to incorporate a third Jag pickup in the bridge and have the chrome plates. When I get done with it it'll look a lot like an original Bass VI. Not that it wasn't gigable as it came, I tend to do some modding on most of my stuff. If they had released a true re-issue I'd probably still ended up doing something to it. |

The last time I played an original one with flats it reminded me of how a mustang sounds with flats. It may work in some genres but sounds dated to me. Here are the only clips that I found and they certainly are dated. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wpz2m...=1256243075.86 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odY7QUQ285o
To each their own I guess but I think it begs for rounds. |

Honestly, I kind of like the look of the sunburst and black with the tort guards a little better. Nearly every bass I’ve owned has either been sunburst or black, so I wanted to shoot for something different this time. The matching headstock on the CAR was the deal sealer.
This guitar will be used primarily for recording tic-tac (doubling upright bass and piano left hand). Played with a pick, tic-tac just gives the upright a little attack and definition on top. A bassy sound with a lot of fundamental is not the desired sound for tic-tac. That is the upright’s sonic region. For tic-tac, keeping the tone wide open, using only the bridge pickup and muting gives the desired effect. It may sound terrible by itself but it works great in the mix.
A few questions for SneakyT and other PS VI owners:
1. Does the tremolo lock? In pictures, the tailpiece appears to have the locking button. The specs do not mention it, though.
2. SneakyT, was the mute fairly easy to install? It almost looks like there is not enough room for it between the bridge and bridge pickup. |

You will most likely need to shim the neck but I prefer to do that on most offsets to increase the break angle over the bridge. When disengaged the mute rests on the pickup height screws so it is a pretty tight fit. Overall pretty straight forward. I detailed the process a bit better over at the offset forum. |

Gonna put in an order at bass strings online as soon as I get my check this week. One more thing and it may be my imagination but I set the tremolo up last night and i feel like the E string is not as floppy not where I want it but better. |
