I would think that on your model you could coil tap the back Pup and have a choice of either poles to use. Using the switch you can then blend in combination of poles using the single coil on the fromt to blend in with either single coil on the back. Add to this the treble cut either tone pot offers and you have a few great options in single coil sounds.
On mine i used a Ric to remind me of the sound it gave, on my bass the Rick sound comes from the coil tapped selection in the middle, it gives a good representation of a Ric sound.
I can get a number of "sounds" from it, obviously i get a great Stringray sound on the back HB, and a good P bass sound when pole 3 is tapped only.
I get reasonable Jazz sounds from ether pole 1 or 4 being tapped together or separately.
The front HB gives a good EBO sound and when tapped the front gives a good Hofner type sound, very McCartney/Beatles-esk in a way.
Basically i find it makes my bass very adapable, but keeps a consistant feel, so no changing basses for different situation.
This may be in part to the changing of my tone pots, i am not sure what brand was used, just that they were of a better quality than what was in there.
Maybe the Stinger EQ would be a great addition, but i wanted mine to stay 'passive', but on some amps i find myself using the padded input as the output of the HB is so powerful.
