New Rickenbacker Owner? Look No Further!

Hello, everyone!

Recently, many TalkBassers have acquired new Rickenbacker 4003's as a result of a pretty nice sale online. I thought I'd compile a useful list of links for Ric owners both new and old. I hope this helps. Feel free to contribute below!

Setup help regarding the dual truss rods and Ric bridge:
Joey's Rickenbacker Bass Guitar Maintenance, Setup and Wiring Diagrams.

Video of how to remove the treble pickup cover:

Treble Pickup Assembly Diagram in PDF:

Serial Number Decoder (Manufacture Date):

Removed your treble pickup cover but don't like the gaping hole left behind in the pickup enclosure? Here are options to consider. They require no extra drilling, and are completely reverse-able should you want to go back to the factory configuration. DISCLAIMER: I am in no way affiliated with either of these sellers.
Trebel Bezel for Rickenbacker Bass Bridge Pickup - Pick of the Ricks
Bridge Pickup Plate - Pickguardian

Again, if you feel that I've missed something, feel free to post it! These are just some links that I think might answer a few questions that are going around.

As always, rock on, and enjoy your new Rickenbacker!

Nice one. It took me a lot of digging to find all these when I got my 4003 JG over a year ago. I am sure it will help a lot of folks out.

Accept? There is no "accept" over there. You just sign up... and you're ready to post.

I'm certainly not the forum darling at RRF but we all play nice with each other. Lots of good folks there.

Sometimes they don't 'accept' right away. Not personal, they get around to it eventually.

I've signed up twice, and haven't been accepted either time. I posted about it here. I tried to email the admins but it didn't work out

I'm sure it's just a mix-up. If they knew, they'd fix it.

Wait for a bit - I found that forum to be one of the friendliest...although they do gush about Rics quite a bit(what do you expect?) It's like going on an Ernie Ball forum - they are bound to gush about MM basses...

The people there are really helpful though, especially about setting up your instrument and getting the best possible sound from it.

Ric pickup pole spacing.

Can someone tell me what the pickup pole spacing is on the neck and bridge 4001 or 3.I was wondering if a neck pickup would work in the bridge position. Thanks in advance.

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.
