Next bass to buy?

I've been playing an Ibanez Gsr200 for about 3 years now and I'm looking to get something a little better. I don't want a huge step up but definitely something that will perform better.

PS: Sorry mods if I posted this in the wrong section.

Do you like how the Ibanez plays, looks, and feels? If so, I'd figure an SR would be good.

If you don't like the GSR, what don't you like about it?

Well it's the only bass I've ever owned so I really don't have anything to compare it to and therefore don't know if I even like it or dislike since I've never had better or worse. I actually just got back into it after about a 2 year break and I want something fresh and better.

My advice would be to go to a guitar center and play every bass on the wall, regardless of price... See what you like & look for a used one of what you like in your price range. You can usually get used gear for around half the price of new.

Also you need to think about what you would like different from your Ibanez. I'd be surprised if you'll notice a big difference in quality as Ibanez' are fine basses. But you might be looking for a different sound and that needs the experimentation stated above.

Try an ATK by Ibanez. They're killer! I have an ATK 300 series that Ive played now for 10 years. Solid bass. Sounds awesome too. And it wasnt that expensive. They suggestion to try everything on the wall is a good one though. Hope you found something to your liking at Sam Ash. Always liked them for their selection. The one by me anyway. There is plenty to choose from out there. Again, I have the ATK and then a modded Squire P for my secondary, which I love. I'm going to throw different pups in it soon. It has EMG's in it now but I'd like a different flavor. Good luck!! Let us know how your search goes.
