No New Basses!

It just occurred to me that I will not have bought bass in a year as of October 30. Considering how GAS-sy I have been for 27 years, that is a major feat! It's amazing what responsibility and a few bills can do for you. Seriously, I have two really nice basses, but they aren't magic. I have just keep it in my pants (my wallet.) I wish I had chilled back in the mid 1990s.

I've taken a break too. Just not feeling gassy these days. My G&Ls are holding their own, and I'm cool with that.

GAS hit me a bit when I recently bought my Modulus. I don't regret it at all, though. I wanted a 6 string and this one really sounded amazing. I did thin the herd a bit to make it happen.

Congrats!

I only have another 358 days to go to make it a year without buying one....

Geez. I've bought 3 and sold 2 since August...

Now how does this post promote the GAS of others.

Need pics of said GAS killing basses, or they don't exist.

I've currently got 3 basses and am thinking of swapping them all for one new (to me) bass.

I bought a 2012 '62 reissue jazz last month and I am done for a while.

The 62' reissue is top knotch. I put it next to my original '62 and wonder if I should leave them alone together in a dark room. Old meets young sorta thang...

This may be the final installment to my arsenal of basses.

I can't post at the moment. Mt Gold status has expired, and I need to delete a ton of pics to post.

Will be two years for me in January (longer if you count when I ordered my last two Martin Keiths). I don't go through basses either since I went the custom route...now amps are another story.

I have bought three this year and sold two. For me it's an evolving process. I have one or two more that I might sell and upgrade. I have three that I would never sell.

Just realized that I bought four and sold one so far this year. That's atypical, but it's looking like it's time for a purge soon.

I've been clean and sober for over two years now! Even passed on three different off-the-hook CallowHill J(unk) 5s in the past 5 months. That's the height of self control for me.

Congratulations. Sometimes it's good to spend a little time focused on other things and to be content with what one has.

To be honest, it snuck up on me. Although I almost sold my TL-5 a few times, I was keen to keep a bass for a whole year for the first time in a long time. I forgot about buying stuff!

Haven't bought a bass since 2007. Good with what I have for now. Come to think of it, I think I've only bought 1 guitar since then...must be getting old. Haven't really seen anything that's made me unbearably GASsy...which oddly enough usually ISN'T the case with getting old .

Thanks great. Although I haven't sold a bass in a number of years I have been purchasing them. It's only been 10 months for me but prior to that I did brake a year. It feels good to focus more on my playing and trying to be content with what I have.

I've had spectacular drum gas forever. This year I didn't buy any drums, but I've bought three expensive (for me) basses.

I'll call it progress.
