No sound coming from rickenbacker

I owned a ric close to 10 years ago and I'm thinking about picking up another in the near future.
However I keep coming back to a problem that would happen from time to time with my ric.
Every now and then when I was playing, no sound would come out. I used to think that maybe a wire was lose or something and it was the instrument. That was until a few weeks.
I was playing a Ric at a local music shop and the sound seemed to cut in and out from that bass as well.

Has anyone ever experienced such a thing? Is this a Ric thing?

Ive owned one for about 6 months, play it nearly everyday. Never experienced any trouble with it.

That is a wiring problem. Perhaps the jack, maybe the toggle switch ...

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

I've experienced this . . . I think, usually when I'm pretty stoned, I pull out leads, switch **** back off and on so I never know the actual problem is like

I've had an issue like you describe w/my '73 4001. Turns out it was the toggle switch not making proper contact. I pulled the pickguard (which has all the electronics on it including the switch) and only had to bend the switch contacts back into place and everything works fine once again. Good luck.

My jacks in my 30 year old Rick stopped working. The ric-o-sound assembly is complex and it happens sometimes. I got a new assembly from Pick of the Ricks and no problems since.

Ya ... the jacks and the toggles are the parts that fail and they are really cheap to replace.
