no sustain from my Ibanez luthite bodied SR305...

common problem? I have a 405 that sustains a lot better, i'm thinking it's because it has a solid wood body... is the 305's light synthetic body causing my lack of sustain? I've changed the battery and the strings and had it set up and still the same problem.

What can I do? Better pickups? compressor?

Thanks in advance!

Start by lowering your pickups. It's the easy solution to most sustain issues.
Luthite bodies sustain just fine.

I thought the 305s were basswood and the freaky Ergodyne was Luthite.

I remember reading about Luthite Soundgears a while back, so I'm betting the OP isn't mistaken about what his bass is made of. As for the sustain issue, I wouldn't know, but it seems possible. I experienced that with a graphite neck I had after using it for about 6 years.

Cool, thanks guys! I will check out the pickup height, and then check out a compressor if that doesn't do the trick.
