Good for another year or so.
The birthdate is a good idea. The other thing one can do is put masking tape around the battery and write the date on it. I like to use the batteries I take out of my basses in my tuner and get a lot more out of them. It's not so critical if a battery dies in my tuner since I can tune by ear.

I am really liking my Nordy more and more each day. I was seriously considering ordering a Sadowsky sometime next year but at this rate, it might just be a third Nordy for me......I think Carey is making some great stuff and I hope he continues

I have been an 'all-Sadowsky-guy' for 5 years (Metro, NYC, SA200 amp, strings) but since I got my VP5 over a year ago, that's the bass that gets 95% of all my playing time (the other ones being a Nordy VJ5 and a Reverend.
Both Roger and Carey build great basses but Nordys are ticking all the right boxes for me.

I have no doubt that I would probably like a Sadowsky as well, and Roger is a great guy.....too many great bass makers out there....haha!....guess that's a good thing though

IMHO they both are very close in many ways but very different in others. Fit and finish both get a 10 but in tone they do vary that little bit. Sadowsky is a little more in your face and Nordy more organic...always makes me wonder about the graphite rods in the neck...??

On the whole Sadowsky vs Nordy thing... they're really pretty different basses in a lot of ways. Neck profile is completely different, preamps are completely different, design is somewhat different (especially with the chambering issue... I know Carey has done it but I don't think he typically does). But definitely, both are amazing top of the game instruments.

If you can swing it, it's really easy to rationalize both a Sadowsky and a Nord in the same toolbox; watch:

Well, the preamps are so different...The Sadowsky has more "over the top treble extension," and "feels more modern.''
The Nordy is much more organic feeling, and truer to a "Fender/passive tone;" and the Nord, feels better in passive mode.
The necks are pretty different feeling; sometimes my hands get moody, and really actively prefer one over the other, even though they're both super playable.
Besides, what else am I gonna do with all that gig money?

Happy thanksgiving to my bass brothers! I am grateful for the gift of music, the gift of all the friendships i've made in this awesome forum, the gift of Carey Nordstrands amazing talent to make instruments that inspire and allow me to express myself musically.

I'm with Chef. Totally justified having both Sadowsky and Nordy.

I can definately rationalize having both in the tool box.....talking myself INTO buying basses has never been a problem....haha!
