I only have one bass now, a Nordy VJ4 with active/passive, nothing else that I have played can get close for tone/fit/finish IMHO.

I could be tempted by an VJ5 in oly white though.....

Very Cool. I would have carried the wood cover to the front PU as well to complete the vibe, but looks seriously awesome! Congrats!

You might see if a wood cover for the J is something they could retro-fit. That is a beautiful bass, but I do think it would look even nicer if the pickups matched. Enjoy!!

Or go the other way, ..and get a black PU cover for the bridge PU?

That would also look nice, but I think it might be hard to get someone to remove a custom wood cover.

I have the 2 band and it is great, but I really have fallen in love with the passive tone of this bass, I had the push/pull switch reverse wired so that it runs passive in the down position. Growl for days!

Yeah! Totally love Passive on my Nordy. Carey's PU's don't really need a preamp!

I play in passive mode about 90% of the time. My Nordy Preamp is actually the 3 band. But I only have Nordy Preamp Bass/Mid controls stacked. I use my Passive tone control to dial down treble. That made sense to me since I never 'add/boost' treble with any preamp. So I have Vol/Blend/Passive tone (push-pull active-passive) and stacked Bass/Mid. Incredibly versatile! I have never loved a preamp more!

PS: I had an Audere in a previous bass and never loved it, don't miss it at all. The Nordy Pre rules!

I -never- liked the Audere.

I almost always run the Nord 2 band preamp engaged.
I like the little bit of both bass/treble boost you get from the buffering.
I almost always dial passive treble back a bit, and active treble boosted a hair. Nice symbiosis there, for me.
