I could be tempted by an VJ5 in oly white though..... |

Growl for days! | Yeah! Totally love Passive on my Nordy. Carey's PU's don't really need a preamp!
I play in passive mode about 90% of the time. My Nordy Preamp is actually the 3 band. But I only have Nordy Preamp Bass/Mid controls stacked. I use my Passive tone control to dial down treble. That made sense to me since I never 'add/boost' treble with any preamp. So I have Vol/Blend/Passive tone (push-pull active-passive) and stacked Bass/Mid. Incredibly versatile! I have never loved a preamp more!
PS: I had an Audere in a previous bass and never loved it, don't miss it at all. The Nordy Pre rules!

I almost always run the Nord 2 band preamp engaged.
I like the little bit of both bass/treble boost you get from the buffering.
I almost always dial passive treble back a bit, and active treble boosted a hair. Nice symbiosis there, for me.
