I think he also mentioned something about trying to make his pickups more open sounding than blade pickups might otherwise generally be. I would also think a blade style pickup would be less prone to tonal variance when hitting a string kinda' hard, and maybe have a more even response from low to high strings since the overall magnetic field would be pretty much uniform across the entire breadth of strings.
Like Tom, I heard most of the diffs between the neos and ceramics in the mids, but in the cacophony of NAMM, it was hard to really quantify well. I do think I slightly preferred the neos tho... they seemed to somehow have a bit more clarity and presence in the noisy environment... at least where I like to hear it. |

Any idea when they'll be available? | These will be available in all the soapbar shapes we currently offer. We'll have single coils and dual coils with neo and ceramic. Not sure of an exact release schedule yet, but look for the first offerings in the next couple weeks. |

I spoke with him on the phone yesterday because I had a buzzing noise on my VJ4. He talked me through how to sheild the pick ups and then how I would need to earth the shielding afterwards.
I completed the shielding this afternoon and now.....no more buzz.
This bass is now absolutely perfect in every way! |

| | | | Hi all,
I'm considering ordering a vP4 with a bridge big single and a jazz neck. Living in Australia, it's difficult to try the bass out, so I'm wondering if you might be able to help me. I really love the shallow/oval C neck shape on my Lakland JO neck, and it'd be awesome if the nordy had a similarly shallow neck. Has anyone compared a nordy jazz neck with a Lakland jazz neck and is able to comment?
Thanks! |

| | | | I have tried both the VJ5 and VJ5 Classic neck and they are both very comfortable and slim.
I have a Lakland DJ4 and its neck is very nice and slim.
The only 5 string Lakland I have played is a 55-94 and I was concentrating more on the scale then the neck width but saying that it was very slim.
I dare say the Nordy neck in any radius is as comfortable and nice as any neck out there.

Both necks do feel rather similar.
In the end, I kept the Nordy VJ5Classic

anyone of you have tried a NP4v pickup? Is it a vintage sounding precision pickup with a little more clarity?
Thanks

I went for a classy, almost black-tie look, as all of my other instruments are heavily vintage inspired. Should be finished mid summer
Piano Black / Ash Body
BEM Board & BEM pickup covers
3-Band, 6 Knob Layout
Photochop of how she should look when complete:
