Check out the ATK Premium sound samples page if you haven't already: http://www.ibanez.com/atkSoundSamples/index.html

Big sounds from a big bass... really liked the "jazz-funk" and "fusion"

More good ATK Premium info in this thread: New 800 series ATK available in US.

I'm guessing those Premium ATK's are fresh out the oven? I've never heard of them up until now.

For my taste, I think that this bass would look way better without the pickguard.

Maybe a clear pickguard instead?

I actually thought it was a clear pickguard.

They come with a rosewood pickguard.

Might be a weird idea, but what would it look like if you just took the Guard off and put the screws back in place where it would be with the guard still on. Might be interesting........could also be pretty stupid haha.

I think the rosewood pickguard would look a lot better if the stain on the ash were lighter in color or nonexistent. A 5-er is very tempting, though, provided I never run into a used 305.

The ATK Premium has some sweet upgrades over the older ATK 300/305's... premium fretwork, premium active EQ (same one as in the Prestige ATK1200), premium lightweight tuners, and overall fit/finish should be a higher level, too.

I'm not a huge fan of brown... but I'll probably buy the first "used" one I can get for under $500

Interesting, they put the single coil pup a little farther from the neck than on the older 750 series. I like the blend instead of the 5-way, something different. The Hipshot ultralights are a nice touch. Count me as another that doesn't like brown. Hopefully it will come in at least a couple other colors.

USA Street price seems to be $749.99 for the ATK800 and $799.99 for the ATK805: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ibanez-ATK80...item4abb85e219

I guess I didn't search well enough! Well, that seems reasonable enough to give it a whirl, really!

Fit was as I had expected...exemplary. Fret work was top notch.
The blend left me a bit disappointed....it didn't actually blend at all.
In the center you got a blend of both pickups with whatever coil selected on the humbucker.
Any where off center was either full front or rear.

Not overly fond of the satin walnut finish...I've stated before about the over abundance of "browns" in the Ibanez lineup.
Anyways....nice to see the comeback of a 5'er in the ATK lineup.

Funk Factor... How did the "blend" work on the ATK800?

The blend worked the same on both models....not much blending at all.
Pretty much just offers two more pickup configs than the 5 way.
Maybe some different pots would solve that, but there was no noticeable difference until it was almost at the center detente

I'm going to address the elephant in the room: that walnut finish looks like my parent's wall panelling from the 70s. No sir, I do not like it.

I'll stick with my faded blue USATK, thank you very much. Or at least I will, once I pick it up in Dallas next month.

The screws might look a bit odd by themselves but in my opinion it would certainly look better than the mismatched pickguard Ibanez put on there.
