Official Ben Lindsey Bass Club

I know that Ben has a lot of fans on TB so I thought it would be good to start a thread of all things Lindsey.

For those of you that don't know Ben, he makes custom basses. He has a great reputation and I don't know of anyone who works with him that didn't love the final product. He bends over backwards to make sure the customer is satisfied and will work with you every step of the build. He builds basses, guitars, pickups, and provides relic services.

I'll put links to other Lindsey threads in a separate post so that no one post gets too long. I currently have 4 Lindsey basses: 1 Jaco repro, a Precision and 2 Jazz basses. I also just put in an order for a 50's Precision.

Please post about your experiences with Ben!

Here's the Jaco:

Here's the Precision:

Ben has done a lot of work for me over the years, but only 1 complete bass (so far). This one began life as a phone conversation. Ben and I discussed refining the Mustang Bass to another level.

He is currently refinishing a 3TS P-J for me. I'll post pics later.

He did some major bodywork and a refinish on this one for me.

I had one of Ben's 1966-Relic Jazz Basses.
Very dead-on replica of a 1966.
Played and sounded great.
Only let it go to get a real 1971 P-Bass.

Here's a long article on a bass I wound up buying:

Ben Lindsey Hot Rod Jazz Build

It turned out great, unfortunately right after it was finished the original owner had to sell it for financial reasons.

Ben Lindsey LPB Jazz

Ben sent me this to show at the Minneapolis TB GTG

IT IS SWEET! (and I'm not even a Jazz Bass guy)

9.0 lbs - nice balance - sounds and plays great.

Ben Lindsey P-J Refin

Ben recently did this for me.

Here's 'The Fendowsky' Before...

... and After!

... and the inspiration - Joinercapes Sadowsky P-J

I think he nailed it!

ExaltBass - all sweet basses. I just talked to Ben about the '52 fender repro he's doing. I'm not sure who is more excited. It's going to be butterscotch with the tele-style headstock.

One of the things I like about working with Ben is that you can tell him exactly what you want and specify every detail, or you can give him an idea and let him run with it. The Mary Kay Precision was his idea. I told him I wanted a Precision and just let him build what he wanted.

The LPB Jazz visits the Minneapolis Cabin Fever GTG

It was a hit! This bass is KILLER!

Looks short scale... not. Lonny is that big!

My stuff: L-R the Jazz, the 'Stang' - short scale guys were going nuts , Joiner Fretless (Paint by Ben), 'The Fendowsky' (Paint by Ben)
Back row: '66 Fender Showman (Special order White Rough Tolex) on Gries 1 x 15 neo cab.

24 local bassists spent 4 hours hanging out, talking, playing and fondling basses... bass swinger time!
