Yep. I mailed him the ramp, and he matched it. Even stained it the same colour. In the pics the colour looks off from the ramp, because I used one from another bass. That tape is so damn sticky, I haven't switched it back.

I'm going to send him my Fatstacks and get another pair of covers made. The only thing about Nate is he's such a busy guy. So it may take awhile. Actually, I shouldn't say that. This was about a year ago, so he may not be so busy now.

Have you been able to try out any basses with Big Singles? I'm curious the comparison. I read somewhere that Carey prefers BS's because their output is stronger.

I've played a Valenti with them- the original "Geddy Vee." It had a crazy tone- really aggressive and punchy. They barked.

Thanks for checking them out. All the ones that say "Private collection" have already sold- the rest are for sale, although I haven't updated that site in a while now, so there's probably a couple that have sold that I haven't marked as such.

He does have his own line of strings. Unlike most private label strings, Rob actually went through a long process of research and development on his. The fellow who used to design DR's strings is friends with Rob and has his own business now. He would run some out and send them to Rob and he would try 'em out and give him feedback. Whenever they got the right mixture on one string, Rob went down to his business for a few days and dialed in the other strings. The whole process took quite a while, but the end result was a unique, not just somebody else's string under a private label.

I have the Big Singles in my Elrick, and I can say that they are bigger and thicker sounding than any other Nordy p-up that I've tried, and I've tried just about all of them in some form or another.

The only downside that I can see with the BS is the 60 cycle hum, but I'd much rather deal with that and get the huge tone benefits myself.

Big Singles are the best pickup on the market, IMO.

I've got some Big Splits coming in for another bass I have. They are supposed to have that high output without the hum of the Big Singles.

hmm.... Yeah, I'm starting to wish I got Singles or Splits instead of my Fatstacks. I know I can coiltap the Stacks, but it's not the same as Singles.

Ahhh! Gas for Splits coming.

Coil tapping the Stacks certainly isn't the same, but it's pretty good still. Tonally, I like the Fat Stacks quite a bit too, but the Big Singles have so much more output, it's amazing!

update on my build. i changed from a bart pickup and preamp setup to a passive aero setup! i spoke to larry from aero today and he described his pickups to me and i started drooling. he told me everything i ever wanted to hear about a pickup without me telling him what i liked......

Larry does have that ability! I have nailed mine down also. It will be Bart soaps, aggie 3 band, active/passive, birdeye FB with dots, wenge neck, 5 string classic hybrid, figured ash top. I got the ash in for the top today and will be shipping out to Rob maybe tomorrow or Wednesday.

Just checked out the 6 string E-Volution BO, here at the Dallas Guitar show.

It's getting bad. I don't know if I can hold back the flood of emotions. What an incredible playing/sounding bass. I am a 5 string player only; I have never found a 6 string that "fit", but after playing this thing I may be "officially hooked". Maybe a 6 string "is" in the future after all.
I am very pleased with the specs on my classic, though. It is going to be deadly. The only thing I was totally unsure with was the preamp. I went with the Aggie, but keep wondering about the bart. I think either way the bass will sound huge with the wenge neck and swamp ash body. Can't wait!

If I could buy any one bass in the world right now, it would be this one...Specs: Swamp Ash Body with Curly Redwood Top, Maple Neck with Indian Rosewood Fingerboard and Walnut Heelblock, Bartolinis. Plays like a dream.
