To nubs' question from the previous thread:

Out of all MIA Fender I tried, not even one of them was as good as my MIJ. And that MIJ is not even as good as my MusicMan.

Heavy neck-diving necks on 95% of them ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-ZktFDkVhE ), deadspots on the G string, trussrod is usually maxed out way before the neck is straight (Depends on the string type and the tension, but I found that you have to shim the neck on ~50% of them), the frets are rarely level out-of-the-box.

I like the sound of Fenders but the quality is very hit-or-miss.

Let's start with my 1974 then!

...and the chair is the hotel room chair, where I took delivery of this bass...

I love the MIJ PB70 from the previous thread. I'm usually not a rosewood fan but that looks lovely.

And regarding nubs' question - I have only ever played 2 MIA Precisions (a 60th Anniversary, and mine, below). The 60th was ok, it would have been great if it was set up properly, and mine is awesome. Looks, plays and sounds fantastic.

I took another shot of my 1974 P, and updated my family shot for the sticky "Show your basses" thread:

Then I took another shot to show how the lower bout has a sliver of wood glued, to make this a two-piece body:

You can just make out the join when you squint properly, at the direction of the bright glaring spot on the poly surface, right below the tone pot.

And Sonny makes it to the front page again!!

Here's my 2011 60th Anniversary P, being guarded by Sonny the Wonder-Mutt.

I love this bass. Easily gets two hours or more of play every day. Stays on a stand in my living room, so it gets some time in the sun (the lacquer is aging nicely), and I can pick it up and play any time I want.

The Modern C neck is absolutely the best neck I've ever played. This bass will be buried with me.

Here's a MIJ I recently acquired.

Here is my 1976 Precision bass. It sat in the case for over 30 years. Just getting back into it.

Just like the '75 I bought new except for the RW.

One of the nicest basses I've owned.
Custom in Ocean Turquoise Metallic.

I've already have a number, but I guess this one is entitled to stand here...

I've got some Seymour Duncan quarter pounds to install at some point, I'll post some pics when there done.
I'm also going to record a comparison between them and the stocks.

Make sure you upgrade the pots as well, the standard 250k ohm pots don't sit really well with SD's. I have 500k ohm pots installed on mine and it's good.

500k for both the volume and tone? I'm installing the same pu in my p and I want to do it right.
