| | | | I recently purchased a 2011 60th anniversary Fender P bass in limited blackguard blonde and I am really enjoying it. The blackguard blonde finish looks amazing on this bass but I have also been fond of the natural look of wood grain seen on some refinished 50’s precisions. I always thought it would be nice to have this “natural” option with the 60th so I mustered up the courage to have my new bass refinished. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised when it was finished and I am very happy with the outcome. What a great sounding/playing bass. |

I've got one in Blackguard Blonde myself, my favorite bass since I got it in January. We need some pix. |

| | Hello Mangs | | Join Date: Jul 2010 Location: Munchkin Land | | This is Herrick's 5-string Peeeeeee. *No need for a number* I got it a few days ago but I did not want to take any pictures until I got the black pickguard. I should've taken the plastic off before taking pictures. It looks much better.
I think the first two pictures were taken with the flash. Twould be awesome indeed if the bass looked like that in real life. It has D'Addario Chromes. The B string goes the body fine after taking of the blue wrapping. Sounds good once the strings are played for a while.

Never imagined a bass equipped with just one single coil pu could do it for me.
I'm about to mod it a bit, though. As soon as it's done I'll post some pics.

| | | Here is a crappy pic of my 1964 Precision-bass. I bought this axe in 1979, the Schaller-bridge was already on it. So have been the PUp's.
I am sorry about this, but in the end of the 70's 7 beginning 80's a Precission built in 1964 was nothing more than an old Fender bass. It's a shame...
But never mind the bridge or the pichups, or the crappy pic.... I love this bass and, together with my MuMa SR 5, he is my main instrument. The sound of my old Precision is awesome!

The bridge is perhaps an upgrade, although not "vintage correct".
Personally, I don't mind an instrument not being "vintage correct", if the alterations are improvements or done cause of personal preferences.

| | | @ Hnz: Thanks a lot! Yes, this bass needs to be played...
And You are right, the replacement bridge does not bother me at all, because I like the sound and the sustain of this bass.
Btw: Does this bass qualify me to get a number?

But mind you, the TS is perhaps on a holiday. Some time ago I also applied for a #, but haven't heard anything since. Or perhaps my '55 Sting sign does not qualify...

| | | I just sent him a PN. Let's be patient...
I think, your '55 Sting is enough qualifcation. It's a beauty! I saw it some pages back when scrolling through the thread.
I like the small headstock. But I would prefer it reverso.
Thats what I dream of: A P-Bass like mine, real worn out, with reverse small ("Sting"-Bass- like) headstock - Dusty Hill of ZZ Top has some custom shop basses that look like this. Drooool.....
