Right now the plan is to use a power drill and just screw the suckers in, but I don't want to mess up anything.
What should I do to ensure something crazy doesn't happen like cracked finish |

If you put a piece of masking tape over the hole before drilling and run the drill slowly, you won't crack the finish. Also, be sure to only drill a pilot hole, not a full size one. Go as deep as needed, just not as wide (by a couple of sizes). |

My 1979. Still original and pristine. She's been a member of my family since she was born. Plays and sounds great still. |

It was refinished to a nice trans crimson at some point, not the best job but I love the hue. Got it on craigslist from someone who got it from a TBer, I'll hope for the longshot that someone can tell me more about its history!
Could I get a number please? |

edit: looks like it was actually in production from '89-93: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fender_Precision_Bass_Plus

2007 P5, 2008 P4, Tokai Hard Puncher | Flipping beautiful! I have the 'burst fiver, want a white and black, both with tort guards. Very nice...

Next to pickin' guitar and bass, chasing largemouth and smallmouth bass is my favorite thing to do!!!! I wish I were there in Canada chasing down those smalljaws with you right now! The HEAT here in Texas is pretty brutal right now!
On another note.....how can I get a member number to the Precision Bass Club?

My Precision through a Sansamp Programmable Bass Driver straight into a QSC K12. The tone was great. I wanted to keep it pretty simple. As much as I loved my Jazz bases over the years, I am glad I switched to Precision.
