Hey fellas' could you teach me how to install a bridge cover and thumb rest on a bass?
Right now the plan is to use a power drill and just screw the suckers in, but I don't want to mess up anything.

What should I do to ensure something crazy doesn't happen like cracked finish

That's exactly how to do it. Measure thrice, cut once! If you put a piece of masking tape over the hole before drilling and run the drill slowly, you won't crack the finish. Also, be sure to only drill a pilot hole, not a full size one. Go as deep as needed, just not as wide (by a couple of sizes).

My 1979. Still original and pristine. She's been a member of my family since she was born. Plays and sounds great still.

Long time lurker and first time poster here. Here's my beloved 1992 boner bass! It was refinished to a nice trans crimson at some point, not the best job but I love the hue. Got it on craigslist from someone who got it from a TBer, I'll hope for the longshot that someone can tell me more about its history!

Could I get a number please?

It's a P bass Plus, which ran from I believe '91-94. It's got a rather different body than most P models - the upper horn on the body is longer and apparently more suggestive, hence the name.

edit: looks like it was actually in production from '89-93: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fender_Precision_Bass_Plus

Flipping beautiful! I have the 'burst fiver, want a white and black, both with tort guards. Very nice...

All I need is a natural finish and I'll have all the traditional standard popular colours. I am not generally a fan of black, but black and tort is always a great combo. There's just something about it.

Hey Smallmouth Bass....love your handle! Next to pickin' guitar and bass, chasing largemouth and smallmouth bass is my favorite thing to do!!!! I wish I were there in Canada chasing down those smalljaws with you right now! The HEAT here in Texas is pretty brutal right now!

On another note.....how can I get a member number to the Precision Bass Club?

Just post a pic of your Fender Precision bass and request a number.

Last night I filled in playing bass for a local band. My Precision through a Sansamp Programmable Bass Driver straight into a QSC K12. The tone was great. I wanted to keep it pretty simple. As much as I loved my Jazz bases over the years, I am glad I switched to Precision.
