Cool My '89 MIJ is back to attack!!!

Yes! So fired up!
Haven't used it in like 10 yrs...
Took it to my guy in Chicago - Carl Pedigo...the master...
Put in the Stellartone Tonestyler tone pot...like it so far...we shall see on the gigs...
Turns out I had Lindy Fralins in it! I forgot about that!
all new wiring as well
New bone nut
Routed out access to the truss rod as well, now can be adjusted on the fly!
complete set up...new padding under the pickups
Sounds killer! My Lakland 55-01 is on hiatus...
wanna play all day now!

Here she is in the operating table!

I've finally mastered the bass, does anyone know what those other 3 strings are for?

Mainly Ernie Ball Super Slinky Roundwound 105/85/65/45
Sometimes I use the Rotosound 66 Rounds in the same guage
recently just tried the DR Hi-Beams and they were ok, but I think I am going back to the EB's

I've went back to using Rotosound Swing bass about 5 years ago. Never been happier and people often ask what the strings are, as they sound so good.

I just realized I have no idea what the strings are on my 1974 P. The flats came on the bass when I got it a couple of years ago. I took them off and boiled the crud out with some alcohol in the water, and they feel and sound fine. That's all I care about! They may have the secret "Jamerson Factor" - or maybe I boiled that out with all the crud, IDK...

Rotosound 66 Steels. Either the Billy Sheehan or LD sets. I also use GHS Boomers from time to time

So... for the past 10 or so years, it's been a never-ending ebb and flow of "buy gear, sell gear, buy gear, sell gear..." and so on and so forth.

I have owned a few P basses over the years. My first bass was a Harmony P copy. Unfortunately, i didn't appreciate what i had when i was 15 and it was traded away in '02. Since then, i've probably had close to 50 different basses in and out of my possession.

Exactly one year ago, i decided to buy myself something nice for my birthday. So, i went to Ebay and found two awesome pieces... a MiJ Fender P body and a MiM Fender P maple neck.

I put the two pieces together... strung it up with some Chrome flats... and something amazing happened. The GAS stopped! For the first time in over a decade, i went a full year without buying a new (new-used) bass guitar!

My Fender P does everything i need it to... 2 original bands and the occasional musical theater gig. It's awesome! My Fender P has changed my life, and pocket book, forever!

Rehersing for a theater gig:

GHS Precision Flats. I've had them on for a while now and I love them.

When I am using a Precision, I use TI Jazz flats. It's like those strings were made for Precisions.

Totally beat me to it, but that's everything I was going to say. Seriously, congrats on a screaming deal and a great bass.

Here's a photo of me in the studio with my super hot American P.

I've owned a bunch of other basses and ended up selling most all of them, but I just can't seem to let this bass go. It's my soul mate bass, if such a thing exists.

We all aspire to find soul mate basses, and when we do, we keep them a good long time.

I am taking mine to practice today, the 1974 with flats on. Should be good. I just finally decided I will take the dare and expose it to the rigors of the rehearsal space.
