The first scratch/dent is always tough, but every one after that is added mojo.

Hey bassman74,
If you do a search on "poll maple rosewood neck" within the topic of Bass Guitar Forums > Basses [BG] you'll find more information than you'll want to wade through. This topic has pretty much been done to death.

Short answer: I have both maple and rosewood fretboard P basses. In a gigging environment (blues, classic rock, R&B, folk, indie) the type of strings you use, right hand position, whether you are finger style or pick player, what pick up is in your bass, amp model and how you set your amp along with what cab you use, will make much much much much much ............ more difference than choice of fretboard material. In my experience fretboard material is ALL bout the aesthetics and has so little to do with tone it isn't worth thinking about. Of course YMMV

Jade Green With Mint pearoloid PG

I changed the PG on my 2012 Jade green Precision today after two months of ownership the Mint PG grew on me but it looked a little plain. I found a Mint Green Pearolid PG on Flea-bay for around $18 shipped. The quality was decent and the holes lined up, I'm satisfied. check out the before and after Pic. I have been going round and round about color pearl I wanted but in the end I like the mint color with the Jade Green.

Thanks, I've had exactly 35 years (wow, time flies, I can't be that old?). It is my main gigging bass.

OK I know this has been asked 1,000 times. Where can I get a Tortoise Shell Pickguard to fit my MIM Fender Standard Precision Ball? Without the truss rod notch at the base of the neck.

Have both a 2002 r/w & a 2010 Precision V. Both USA, both are similar and very different. It's a bit more effort with the 2002 but, I really like both. Plus, when playing, I love the jumbo frets, makes sticking those landings easier.

Just gave up a borrowed '74 and it was a battle. Too much effort to play the music fighting the smaller frets plus, the wear & tear.
