OK, I just ordered a tortoise pickguard from Allparts. I will let everyone know how well it fits. Should get it next week. Then I will install the new cts 250k pots, cap, input jack & knobs. Gonna keep the old pickguard wired up as is.
Maybe someone else won't have to ask this question again, again & again.

Joining the club...

Just realized I haven't joined the Precision club yet, can I have a number since this is my first one?

In keeping with the retro vibe, I've shot these on instant film (like Polaroid) and scanned them afterwards. The black and white shots are made using high sensitivity black and white film paper, hence the grainy look, but I think it matches the mood.

PS.: sorry for the dust hair showing in the scans, it's hard to maintain a clean surface when you have a shedding cat running around the house

Thank you so much for posting!! Great pix!!

Nice to see someone who even remembers film, let alone actually use it!! My mom was a professional photographer, so I learned about the stuff early on.

And nice to see someone who appreciates film. I shoot film all the time, it slows me down and makes me think more about my pictures, in stead of the shoot from the hip with digital (and sort / delete later).

I still have 2 rolls of 120 and 1 roll 135 sitting at the shop to be developed, which I shot of this bass last week. I'll post some more once those are scanned and edited

Indeed, a very similar angle! Don't you just love those contours

I no longer shoot with film. In fact, I'm currently trying to unload a Nikon F80 and lenses, but it seems that no one else is shooting film anymore, either.

But I also have these two crazy 120 cameras:

A cool old Box-Tengor. More point-and-pray than point-and-shoot, but you know...

Haven't shot my P Bass on film, though. I'm pretty sold in the digital approach these days.

Well, as a non professional, digital has limited advantages for me, however I do use digital a lot, but moved away from DSLR's, since I don't need the speed which sacrifices in both size and weight. Anyway, don't want to turn this thread into a photography discussion, I'll go pick my processed film today and hopefully scan them tonight, and here's the monster camera that took the pictures

Very cool. I use all digital myself for the convenience but growing up I was around film a lot. My mom was a photographer/editor for our local newspaper and I took photography classes in school to some degree.

It seems like such a lost art these days, with the amazing quality you can get with just an iPhone. No developing, chemicals and expensive film. I wonder how long before film completely disappears as a medium.

See, I envy that a lot. My parent's generation, growing up in China in the 1940's and 1950's were very unfortunate as most were very poor and had no means to indulge in any hobby's and interests that allowed them to express themselves, most were far more concerned with being able to make a living and providing a home for the next generation, the cultural revolution didn't help either. The consequence is that I don't have parents aho play instruments or are into photography and such. Even most people my age (early 30's) are oblivious to this, how many good jazz musicians do you see coming from China?

Now I was lucky enough to have been exposed to all this when my parents immigrated to Europe when I was very small, I started listening to Bruce Springsteen and Jackson Browne when I was 4. Hence I always went for it with a vengeance, I was determinde not to lead a life which my parents did. OK, I agree, I do spend too much time "playing" as opposed to making a career, but heck, I want my grandkids to look up to me and not pass me for another old fart that's too serious to hang out around.

So back to the point, I really envy you guys with such an atmosphere at home, especially those with musical backgrounds, just imagine what it would be like when I was a teenager and the house was littered with guitars and amps, or camera's and Harley's

Thanks for sharing that. I, for one, tend to take many things for granted, as much as I like to think I don't, and your post puts alot of perspective to things. It is I who envies you, actually. For me, it would seem to make the love and joy of what you (I) do that much more enlightening and fulfilling.

Joining Fender Precision Club

I would really like a number. My current Precision is a 2008 MIA. I've been playing Precisions since 1966. I'm a retired IT nerd and now I play and record with friends and family because it's good for the brain. I've owned other basses but Precisions have always been my bass of choice.

Just to convince you that film will probably around for a while, here's some scanned 120 Fuji Provia 100F, I love the color and dynamic range of this film, which I could only get with a US$20K digital back.
