*** OOH, SHINY ***
Member #3 has a bass just like mine

I'm thinking about selling my Geddy to buy another one, then trading my Squier to the fret shop to do a fretless conversion on it...
What do you think, Pilgrim? How would this baby sound with some flats and cream line marker inlays?

I think flats would be perfect on it - mine is likely to get Labella Deep Talkin' flats.

I like the frets. To me, Gretsch is a brand with a pretty traditional vibe, and that means frets. If you're REALLY driven to go fretless, I suppose cream or white plastic styrene would work well.

But I'm not going to pull the frets on a Gretsch that's one of a few hundred at most. If you gotta do it, having a pro do it is the way to go. With the binding on that neck, you want a highly professional job.

Oh, yeah. Luckily, we have a renowned luthier right here. The Fifth Avenue Fret Shop has done some great work for some pretty big names His prices are reasonable, and I personally really like the idea of taking one of a few hundred and making it one of a kind, especially since I plan to leave one unmodified

I happened upon one of these new GC orange models this past weekend, and played it for a bit. Wow! That neck pickup provides some nice warm thick tone, but not dull or thuddy. I was impressed for a bass made in Korea at a $799 price point! Plus, the "mojo factor" of this bass is off the charts! Nice and light too!
