sounds like number 6 to me, as some of the others before you have declined to take a number. P.S. I like the 'cult' status. |

Here's my Hondo. Although I'm not into the whole naming your bass thing, this nasty fella' is affectionately referred to as Full Metal Hondo by my roomates/fellow bandmates. I believe it's a "Deluxe Series 830." So it looks like this makes me Cult Member #7?
Here his story: I bought the Hondo off of a girl who lived down the hall of my Freshman year dorm, for $25. It was basically in the same state it's in now: frets ripped out and filled with some sort of gunk, the pickguard is a roughly-cut piece of plexi-glass, and everything metallic on it is rusted and corroded.
It actually plays quite well, which is the weirdest thing about it. Before the output jack got ripped off, it sounded good too. I'm planning on replacing the pots and wiring (retaining the cream-covered Hondo pickup), bridge, tuners, and pickguard (I'm more that likely going black with the guard) when money becomes a little less tight.
Well, here's the pics...
And yes, that's my blood.

The first rule about Hondo club is that you don't talk about Hondo club. |

Hondo`s are awesome! I wish I had one with the appropriate amount of strings, but all I have is a Hondo guitar that my singer donated...

I just upgraded/bastardized/removed every last hondo aesthetic off of my hondo. I've been planning the upgrade for a while, pictures will come whenever I have time:
sincerely,
guy who is not cool enough to leave his hondo the way it is |

| | | | I still have my Hondo under my bed, in its original case, semi taken apart, I canabalized the pick ups and put them in my fretless but still have the bridge, neck etc...was thinking of stripping the finish off and buying a new neck for it, new bridge and making a new bass.

I personally have no grudge to the guitar owners, It's got strings, it makes music, F@*k it! Anyone object? P.S.- picked up the fretted twin to my baby off evil bay!!!! $170 shipped, still waiting for it in the mail, got the shipping notification by email today! WOOHOO!!!! The bridge is slightly different, and the pickup is white, not black, but otherwise identical to mine!! Will post the auction pictures soon, and a reunion pick when it arrives!! Also, too scatterbrained to assign numbers right now, but cult membership is bestowed upon new members of 'The Order of St. Hondo'. If someone who can count past ten WITHOUT removing their shoes would like, you may also list the new members/numbers. |
