Is the distance from the bridge to the neckjoint the same on the SX Jazz and the Gypsy Rose?

I'd say they are not interchangeable. I just measures and the pocket of the PJ it is an 1/8 inch wider than the J.

Thanks. Glad I didn't buy one and find out the hard way. I was wanting me a black & maple PJ.

I may still get one of those medium scale CAR Jazz basses. Those look hot, as does the black.

ebonalley: I also have a SX 32" like yours, looks like you changed tuners? I'd like to lighten the weight of the neck a little, did those tuners help?

Hey Gil,
It's hard to say bc I changed them out quickly and modded the headstock too. In general the ultralites tend to weigh less and I've never had neck dive. Hope that helps.

Thanks ebonalley.
I just got the SX 32" a couple of days ago, love the sound and out of the box pretty nice overall. I wish the neck on this was a little thinner but one can get used to that, what bugs me a little is the neck weight, I play sitting (just a hobby for me) and I find myself holding the body with my forearm to keep it from diving.
I removed one of the tuners just to check the weight and I estimate all 4 of them to be about 9 ounces, the ultralites and some "wood removal" from the headstock should cure some of the neck dive.
I just came across your fret job and headstock mod link, came out real nice!

I just flung the SX and Gypsy Rose over my knee and the SX definitely dipped more but I think it was due to the shape of the Jazz body rather than the actual weight of the neck. If you have an extra $100, I'd recommend picking up the Gypsy Rose too. I also do not like the neck of the SX very much. The neck on the Gypsy is wide and has a nice satin finish. On the other hand, you may wish to defeminize it and change out the electronics. Mine didn't work at all when it arrived. Enjoy!

I thought I'd post the progress picture of my current medium scale build. Kind of looks like a mannequin before it's personalized right now, but the swamp ash body looks great. I'll make sure to post finished pics.
Hey ebonalley, have you posted clips of the Muckelroy somewhere? Looks amazing, btw.

Great looking 5's lately. I'm still holding out hope that Warwick is going to follow through in 2013.
Sorry if this tosses a wrench in the list, but I just noticed I have two numbers. (70, 78)

Looks like Muckelroy has a medium scale option in his regular inventory now. Here's a shameless plug for his new Charger32.

Well, for all of you that asked - The Warwick Rockbass Corvette 5 medium scale bass will be debuted in one month, at NAMM 2013! I think you'll be pleased, and thank you all who contributed!
