The Mikro went over well at practice today. Everyone said it sounded good. I'm moving into the "you'll never see me play a full size bass again" family. With my back injuries from the Army, this lightweight, easy playing Mikro is a pleasure. The short scale is easier for me to play than a normal scale bass too.

Now, I just need to get a purple one as well and get a few mods done to them...

Hello Everyone,I am a newbie to these forums and am the proud owner of a Mikro LH which I got from Germany.It is brilliant,I put on a set of LaBella flatwounds,shortened the spring on the bridge for the E string intonation,and away I went.Balance is perfect,playability is perfect and it has some serious clout for sound.I find I am having to turn off the low base eq when practising at home or it blows the wardrobe doors open.any chance of a number,please?

Let me get this straight lefty-loosey Steve from the UK that purchased and loves his left-handed Mikro from Germany.............you want a covented MikroWorld number without posting a picture of that border crossing short-scale? You know what you must do.

Well, I just received my GSRM25 5 string Mikro a couple of days ago.....my first 5 string and I usually play short scale only......I had to set it up (received in an unopened box from the factory so no set up done at all)......had to cut down 2 springs and shorten 3 saddle screws to intonate it......don't like the strings on it (not sure what they are but probably D'Addario XL's?) I prefer flats......It plays very nicely and I'm getting used to the 5 string and the B sounds pretty good.....don't know if I'll keep it, don't really have a use for 5 strings (I just wanted to try one out for fun) but I'll see if my hand starts hurting (I have arthritis) but it does make me use a better technique since the neck is wider so my thumb stays where it should though I've been doing pretty good keeping my thumb in the back of the neck on my 4's......anyway, this Mikro sounds good, has good balance and plays nice but I think I prefer 30"...I know it's not a big difference in numbers, 28.6 to 30.3, but somehow my arm feels like it's too close, but I guess I'll get used to it.......

Good review of the Mikro 5 string loopee. I usually test a new short-scale that way too - just buy it and hope for the best. There's been some winners.........and losers.

Thanks WildWes.........The B is a bit floppy is you play hard but if you're careful it sounds pretty good.....being an Ibanez the neck is nice and fast and slim, I don't have a problem playing it but I'd still prefer a 30" so I'm going to keep looking....Lakland has a new 5 string shortscale, though that might be too much $$ but I'd love to try that one........I'd love to see Hofner make a 5 string Club Bass.....but I might check the new Ibanez Artcore AGB205 but the body might be too big.....wish I could build my own but don't have the tools, space and know-how......

fuzzy beard stripped his Mikro and found it to have a front and back veneer which appeared lighter than the body. His aunt (I think) drew this design on it prior to being sealed.

Meanwhile, this one is going to get some Lime Green appointments, ala purple and green like the Joker..

Now that I think about it, it may have been his mother-in-law that did the design. I believe the two-tone you see is just the natural wood with a clear coat.

picked this 5er up today at the local music shop, for way below the $199. tag price.

did a quick setup, cut a screw for the B & set intonation, feels good.

will do a review in a couple of days after i've spent more time with it.

I think I'm going to sell my 5er......I like it and it plays beautifully and I do "get" the B string but my arthritis is acting up and my hand is just too small for a 5er even with the small Ibanez neck....my hand hurts and it just doesn't feel right.....if you're interested pm me......
