| | | | Hey guys it is now October so I have been playing the Celebrity for about 6 months. The guitar player/singer that I back up regularly never wants me to bring any other bass! The thing has some ancient flat wounds on it and the intonation is not great. The neck needs some shimming to get the action right, but the sound is so SWEET! It makes me happy!

- I assume these are short scale instruments?
Also
- What are these basses made of?
Just curious here; I've always loved the look of them but never had the opportunity to play one.

The bass player is just killin' it. Great tone, feel.
The name on the headstock doesn't appear to be Mosrite. I checked the Hallmark web site and they don't make anything like this.
Does anyone know what bass that is? I'm lusting after one.

Rick B. | I believe it's a Joe Maphis model bass. http://www.rocknrollvintage.com/prod...resBassNatural

I had looked it up quickly on the Mosrite forum last night and the Combo guitar has the same shape body but semi-hollow.

I traced the body of my 65 Ventures bass and had a guy build a body blank with the edge carving. I used a Carvin neck with the paddle headstock and I had 3 EMG pickups and a BQC in my parts box. The fingerboard doesn't show in this pic but it's Birdseye Maple. I made the bridge and tailpiece and I just finished a polished cover shaped like the one on my 65. The finished product will have a white pearloid pickguard.
This whole thing started because of the "What is your ultimate bass" thread on this forum.
