This isn't just a short scale, it's flat out tiny. It's next to my Peavey Fury in this pic.
I knew I'd see this bass pop up here somewhere drummer5359. I was bidding against you to the end

hey guys, I hope you can give me a bit of advice - I just bought a hofner icon yesterday and I love it so far. I've already recorded the bass track for a song of mine. I plugged into my little mark II and with the two filter knobs turned fully clockwise I copped a decent double bass sound.
It has flatwounds, but I don't know what brand the strings are. Is there a particular brand of strings I can buy for next time that would emphasize the upright bass sound?

Pyramid Gold Flats, or Rotosound 88 nylon wrapped should do it for you.

I have La Bella Beatle Bass flats on mine. Or for even more thump you can try the La Bella Beatle Bass tape wounds.

When you change them do it one string at a time so the bridge doesn't move. I was told this order: E, G, A, D, and bring each one up to full tune before you do the next. Worked perfect for me.

That should be E, G, A, D. Sometimes typing on the iPad you make an error and don't notice it.

My first bass was a "Knox" from Montgomery Wards", $79.00, and I never seen another since.

Short Scale Kay Bass in Classifieds

Hi guys, totally self-serving post here. Yet if anyone should be interested, it's the members of this club! I just posted an early 1960s Kay KB-2 over in the Classifieds, FYI. Feel free to ignore, or check it out.

Happy new year!!

Awesome. My first bass was a Montgomery Wards violin bass. It rocked.

Would one of you proud owners of the Brice HXB-405 3/4 scale bass please tell me its total length, body length, and maximum body width, to the nearest 1/8"? They are currently out of stock, and the web site shows incorrect dimensions (it gives the dimensions of the full-scale version). Thanks!

Sorry about that.

This is the third one that I've come across in several years of looking. Both other times I was outbid. And although this may really suck more, my bid was exactly one dollar more than you.

I'm going to have to do some work on it to make it playable if that helps at all.

So I've got a Gretsch G2202 and I'm thinking about putting some heavier strings on it (50-105 instead of the 45-100 it came with), is there any reason I should not do this?

Also, having had this bass for a few years now, I want to expand a bit. Thinking either a Squier Jag SS or one of those SX Pbass clones. Would the Jag give me essentially the same thing as the Pbass clone along with the option of the jazz pickup, or are they separate beasts?

Just think what you would have paid, if I hadn't been bidding against you.

It looked like they had already done quite a bit of work on it. What's left to do?

Well, I personally didn't care for my Squier Jag SS and sold it for an SX Jazz SS. To me, the Squier neck dived and the electronics weren't as responsive as my SX. Keep in mind though, my opinion is just that and many satisfied Squier Jag SS owners would probably disagree with my assessment. Try to test drive one at a music store. WW

Have any of you tried that artist signature short scale jaguar bass from Squier? Unique pickup they used.

I join this forum just to join this club! I finally found a nice little very short scale Cort with no markings and I'm trying to find info on it plus see what kind of strings people use.
