I had the truss rod replaced, an ebony fingerboard (Mother of Pearl Inlays to match the original), and professionally refinished with a GORGEOUS "Strawberry-Honey Sunburst". It had a polished brass truss rod cover that was engraved with the name "Bud".
Finishing touch was All Gold Hardware. It was a REAL beauty!
Almost seemed to play itself it was so smooth!
Had it for almost 25 years before I foolishly sold it on eBay when I briefly became a "5 string snob".
Biggest mistake I EVER made!
After 10 years, I'm STILL searching eBay EVERY DAY to try to re-claim it....so far no luck.
It's the ONLY thing on my "Bucket List".
All I have now to remember it by is my Tat.

Well folks, after over ten years I finally got another LP Triumph! I'm happier than a puppy with 2 Peckers!!

I have no life and a stoopid large collection of cheap shortscales - if nobody else wants the "honor" I'd be glad to "step in it" .

Just picked up a Dean Hillsboro Junior. Except for one of the knobs coming apart it's a nice shorty. I had to do the usual nut slot filing to get the action real low where I like it but it wasn't all that bad stock. I also loosened the neck screws and tweaked the neck over a bit to get the strings down the center of the neck but it also wasn't really that bad stock .

The "noname" 80's Cort I picked up for $70 had a high fret that made the action need to be higher than I like so I stepped up my "luthier" game and filed it. Really nice now! I used a "fret rocker" to gauge the fret and touched up couple others too. As it's an "SG" shape it's a bit neck heavy and the bridge is one of them "two strings per saddle" type I hate so I ordered a heavy cast Chinese "top slot load" bridge for it . I might even go with ultralight machines if needed but I hate to spend $100 in machines for a $70 bass .

Finished up my EBO Frankenbass based around a set of Triumph pickups I purchase on Ebay last year. The main advantage for me is the almost 3lb difference between my Triumph bass and the Frankenbass. It feels good!

I own both a DeArmond Ashbory and a Kala U-Bass SUB Solidbody. If those don't get me in, perhaps my Bassfish by Goldfish Guitars should qualify. May I join this club?

I love my Bassfish, including its stock pickups. It's really just a fish-shaped, short-scale jazz bass.
