A joy to play and a monster tone.
Did a side by side with this and a faded, neck on the standard feels chunkier and the bass felt heavier.
Does anybody string there shorty with 50-105 or 50-110?
Can the neck handle the heavier gauge?

Really want one of these, but I prefer the look and feel of the worn finish on the standard.

Thank you! I got the schematic off the Gibson website and recreated the wiring. The knobs are off of ebay and I hand cut and routed the control panel. It shows close up though LOL

I've been playing bass for about five years and proud to announce I just ordered my first short scale baby online; a Squire Vintage Modified Special SS in Candy Apple Red. It should be here Wednesday so I don't have any pics of it yet but Was hoping to join you guys as my first TB Club!

I bought a gently used VM jag guitar hoping that would reduce my GAS for a jag bass... Nope, not even a little bit! As a matter of fact I think it's worse now with all this talk about the SS! I'm going to need the black VM P/J and the shorty!

Hah! I had a similar experience. When I first started looking at these, the guitarist in my band was urging me to get the black but there was just something about the red.

My next shorty will be a UBass... a guy who has come to a few of our gigs and is a friend is gifting one to me! I said that was pretty generous, and was he sure, and he said yeah, did not want to take anything for it. He is bringing it to a gig we play n the 26th... I am a little excited...

I have a black Yamaha MB III motion B bass. I'll get some pics sorted, thought I had some.

Also, I just finished putting this together last night. GFS cool rail pup, original pots, custom tort pickguard, Schaller 3D bridge, Hipshot Ultralite tuners and off white block inlay stickers. Not sure the stickers will stay, there is something not quite right about the whole combination. Wadda you think?
