This year, I also picked up a Fender mustang from a TB member in the classifieds. So, here are my two short scale basses: | I don't normally repost pictures that someone just posted...but damn! those are beautiful!
I would LOVE to have that pair. |

My main bass is Defil Luna 22. Influenced by few US basses, Made in Poland (more info at my other thread)
Pickups are twin humbuckers (designed for a guitar, but they sound very good in bass), the bridge is a tune-o-matic (its not STB, but only a metal plate to hold them). The scale is 31.5" typical to most Defil guitars. Strings are original from 1988 (still holding the tune yay).
Got also other Defil Luna 22, but this one will have another story. I gave the body to a friend, I'll only need the neck - hope to use it in Rickenbacker, I'm planning to make.
Other bass in my collection shown earlier at Tele Bass thread.
The scale is the same like in Defil Lotos (approx 30.71" or 780 mm). I'm going to make it like Tele Bass.
The next bass is a Defil Lotos, but with lots of modifications
This is only the photo of the body, because I started to work with it. The paint was horrible blue, it was very hard to take it off. The pickguard was made of plywood. No bridge, one pickup from Hofner guitar, and the neck had no fretboard. But I paid for it only 90 PLN what is about 30$, and the bass is at least 45 years old. The pickguard seen on photo, has to be corrected, it was freshly cut, and I just put it on the body, to see how it looks like. The pickup is from Washburn T12 bass, and the bridge comes off Jolana Proxima Bass, my friend gave me. This bass will be for my cousin, he wanted to try the bass, since he saw the guitar shown abowe.
Of course, starting every work I'll post the photos of progress. |

| | | | Hey guys! I'm looking into getting a new bass. I have many basses like fenders, music mans, ricks you name it. But I'm not the tallest and my fingers aren't all too long. I've been looking at Gibson SG bass. What are all of your opinions on this bass?

I was actually thinking of getting a Mikey Way Mustang before I found mine on the classifieds. How are you liking the pickup on that one?

I might put in the EMG TW for the versatility of single vs dual coil. I played the Mikey at practice yesterday and it worked/sounded great. I would like the tone control to be a little more usable... Didn't seem to be a huge difference from open to closed.. seemed like it just muffled the bass a bit... I tend to leave it open anyway. Like I said in my post about it though, sustain while palm muting is way increased. I'm a pick player and palm mute off an on to control dynamics and sound... The Mikey just wanted to ring out notes and sustain no matter if I was 1 inch from the bridge on the strings or not.. "floating" my hand in the air while picking, sustain seemed similar to other basses, but palm muting sustain was notably increased.
The Badtz became almost a must buy.. I love maple and the solid black with the black Badtz pickguard just looked to cool to pass up.. Is it worth $50 more than a normal Bronco? Looks wise, definitely.... Soundwise? Probably not. The simple pickguard difference of the two made it seem better quality.

| | Old Newbie | | Join Date: Nov 2012 Location: Christchurch, New Zealand | | Just rejoined the world of bass after a half-lifetime hiatus, thanks to the cheap and cheerful Vintage Modified Jaguar SS.
The short scale (I have T-Rex arms), combined with iOS amp-modelling tools and online tabs makes playing the bass absurdly easy and fun compared to when I was 15. I'm having a whale of a time.
Current plans are to string it with La Bella 760FLs, replace the black guard with red tort, and maybe swap out the knobs for knurled chrome ones. Then I'll get my proper camera out and do some gear-pron photos
Could I get a number?
