My Fender Basses

2006 Squire Vintage Modified 70's Jazz Bass (Natural)
2008 Fender Jaguar Bass w/ Badass II Bridge (Sunburst)
2012 Fender Custom Shop '64 Jazz Bass NOS Finish (Seafoam Green)

All of these basses feel and play great. My favorite by far is the custom shop, plays like a dream!

I have a Fender American Standard jazz... maple fretboard, sunburst with black pickguard. A Squier Classic Vibe 60's Precision Bass, sonic blue w pearl pickguard, rosewood. And an active musicman stingray 4, red w matching headstock, rosewood.

Did you have to trim the pickguard to fit?

I put a tort pickguard on mine, and I had to take a lot of material off to make it fit between the neck pocket and the control plate.

BTW, the smell that came from the cutting of the tortoise shell did NOT smell like anything I should be inhaling.

Sounds like you maybe bought the wrong guard. There are slight differences to some of the models.

Ordered it from Warmoth, I'm sure it was cut for an American Jazz.

Here's my "beater". 1992-3 MIK "Squier Series" P-bass. With a '62RI tort guard, thumbrust, and SPB-1 added. Labella 760FLs. Sounds/plays great but I'm thinking of swapping the neck for a maple warmoth one.... hmmm.

I had some scrap acoustic eggcrate foam lying around from an isolation cab I built, so I used that. I'm still tweaking the thickness, but for the most part it seems to give the exact effect I was looking for. There's definitely a difference and more of a "thunk" on the attack, but not quite as dead as some denser materials I've tried.

My new Fender American Standard Jazz, Jade Pearl Metallic

Not a great picture. This color is nice. Mint pickguard on it works well with the paint. My first post! Hopefully I did it right!

Thanks. It does look great. Love that first sniff as you open the case. I've been waiting for a green standard Fender color to come along again. It is very nice. Sort of pewter/bronze green. Not Leprechaun colored.

Modified Mark Hoppus P Bass

Changed pickups to Fender Vintage Precision
Cloth wire, Fender 250k pots
Orange drop .047 cap
Added 62 Jazz Bass Control Plate
Added Jazz Bass knobs
Cut original pickguard control plate area
Changed bridge to Fender HMV string through Bass Bridge
Added P Bass Bridge cover
Tuner Machines changed to Hipshot
Neck plate Fender "F" plate
Added Tugbar
Strings DAddario ECB81 Flatwound
Mark Hoppus is not on my long list of favorite bass players (sorry Hoppus fans), but he has a cool looking bass, which looks even better now with the mods.
