After my wife was diagnosed with skin cancer and a cyst on her brain a few years ago I sold my bass collection (MTD, AC, Skjold, etc.) to help fund the best care for her. Happily my wife is in remission and good health and my finances have recovered to a point where I can put the Squier down and start playing some really nice basses again. When I started to rebuild my collection I knew I wanted to start with the best of what I played before, so I started with Skjold.
I don't have to sell anyone here on the workmanship or tone, but let me just say that the musicians I play with always make positive comments about the tone and the way it sits in a mix even in the worst rooms. Thanks Pete!

Soon enough I am going to start saving up to purchase a "high quality" bass. After seeing everyones basses on this thread I think I might be looking twoards a Skjold. I love all the designs especially the slayer and the single cuts. I know it's gonna be awhile till I could possibly afford a beautiful instrument such as the ones you guys have, but I would at least like to know I'm going in the right direction.

Thank you Pete!

But (but?!) it's spoiling me against my fretted bass - Pete's workmanship is absolutely incredible. If I had the cash (and could stand the wait), I'd put the down payment on a fretted twin to this baby in a heartbeat.

I brought the Skjold 5'er and a high end J bass (on the advice of my friend). I plugged in the Skjold and played only a couple of notes and the conversation went something like this:
Leader: Hey man, that sounds great, but do you have something a bit more, umm, traditional looking?
Me: Sure
(plugged in J and played a few notes)
Leader: Wow...let's go with the first bass. That thing is freakishly good.
Yup.
