Once I established that it's a real Lover designed pickup, I had to use it in something. |

| | | Submitted for your approval, my just completed home brewed Telecaster Bass. The neck and body are from USACG, the pickups are Seymour Duncans, and the hardware is a variety of period semi-correct parts from Bass Parts Resource. Obviously an homage to Carl Radle. The neck is more J-width than an original Telecaster Bass; I was a little disappointed at first, but it is really comfortable. The thickness is like an original, very full; by the 5th fret it feels just like my dear departed `68. Presently strung with TI Jazz Flats; as they break in I doubt I'll be changing them. They feel a little tighter on this bass than the ones on my `50s Classic. Foam mute to deaden the sound. I'm trying to find the right thickness to prevent the sound from being too muffled.
As for the tone, if you've ever heard Joe Cocker's "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" from Mad Dogs & Englishmen you'll get the idea. I've never owned a bass as light and resonant as this; I'm learning about dialing up my desired tone in response to its different natural... properties. I'm not a gigging musician or anything, but I love to play and study. May I join the club?

I am about to add Roman numerals to the neck to aid my intonation.

And I'm still trying to get a decent Black-to-Lime Green tapered burst effect figured out for it.
