Just got my new/old tobias back from the luthier. wanted to see if I could improve the action from the 12th fret on down. The luthier had to shim the neck joint, but now she plays even more wonderfully. did I mention I love the tone of this bass? , oh yeah, only about X times.

Greetings,
Just found this thread. I'm trying to determine if my Killer-B 5 string is pre/post Gibson. I purchased it new in late 1993 or early 1994. My faulty memory seems to think the hang tag said Burbank, but if it was on the cusp of the sale I suppose that could go either way. Is the serial # a valid way to tell? And if so, where might I find that out? I've done a search but didn't find any definitive info.
Thanks,
Al

I emailed Gibson Cust Service with my Serial # and they gave me an approximate DOB in 1994.

The Tobias headstock has to be the best ever. I like it so much better than his new design on MTD instruments.

Thanks. I'll give that a try. I was under the impression that Gibson was always kind of "iffy" about their Serial #'s.

Nice! A bass that pretty deserves a better picture, though!

Of course you can keep your number, svoncampe! I don’t recall seeing anything in the Rules that says you can’t sell. Hey, life happens! But I think I’d sell my first born before I’d sell a bass as beautiful as that!

Not in the "tobias club rules," but in the "talkbass rules...." and literally "you can't sell!" IOW linking your Ebay ad is not terribly cool. Not accusing the poster of usin the ol noodle to save $20; Poster was probably not aware of this rule and its practical application, but it's in the FAQ and might annoy a mod.
