That bass is sick and legit ! | Wow. Never would've thought that. That's awesome. What did this particular model go for new approx.?

If memory serves, MSRP was about $500 over regular price, so a $1699 MSRP would be $2199 or so. As we know though MSRP and actual selling price are different.
Also, the claro walnuts just sound sooo good. They look even better

I love this thing. It's the best bass I've owned so far, regardless of where it was made. Sorry for the less than great pics.[/QUOTE]

Not a great pic, but it's the best I could find.

Anything outside of that must have been custom and not all of them had the CS pre upgrade (Millennium).
Apparently they would do just about anything you wanted at one point and the options decreased at some point after that.
I remember playing with the options feature on Peavey's site when they were still available.
Peavey made approximately 10,000 USA Cirrus's since 95/96 when the first one surfaced. I estimated 7500 recently off the top of my head but looking back at my notes that was incorrect by about 25%, production slowed around 2006 due to some economic decline.
All this information came from Peavey recently, some of those records were destroyed by fire if I remember correctly?
BTW I only remember seeing the wood electronics covers on Custom shop basses, I have never seen one on a production bass.

Have you ever seen a production bass with them? | Only if the tiger eye and/or claro walnuts aren't considered custom. 2 of my customs don't even note that they're custom basses. Consistent. |

I am especially not worthy when it comes to the older models. I've never even played a Foundation, Forum, Fury, T-45, or Dyna-bass (except for one Foundation S P/J that I really liked!) or any other SuperFerrite model.
That is going to change slightly, soon, though. I am buying Timmy's Stealth Fury. I love me some P bass and I love me some all black.

What I now know is that those wood covers were a custom shop option only. |

I have not even seen it in well over a year. But, I'm getting it back over Thanksgiving. Can't wait!! Especially after hearing a guy earlier this week that was playing a gig with a Cirrus and it sounded SO good!

You sold your 5 if I remember right? |

But, what I have actually been playing the most is my fretless J 4 that I built and my G&L SB-2. But, I mix it up and play my others, too. Those two just get the most play time.
And I travel to northern VA once a month for a week for work, so I have my Stingray 5 H there to play with.

So, this year I have acquired 3 vintage tube heads and a Berg 610 cab. For that sound and that kind of playing, playing my J or a P just feels "right".

The bass on the right is what I play 90% of the time because I find fretless so much easier to play (physically) such as ghost notes an phrasing. |

What I now know is that those wood covers were a custom shop option only. | With those defined as the "standards", I can go along with that. Still, none of my customs have the wood cover. |

I have never played a Millennium but I have seen pictures of some that are beautiful with a Birdseye maple F board, It must have been a USA version? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
