I owned an '02 Thumb Bolt On 5 a while back and sold it due to financial reasons. It was nothing compared to this model. Everything seems "right" about the '98. The thinner 100% Wenge neck, the crazy figured Ovangkol body, the sound, the weight - it's all delicious.
Also - I must say that NOTHING sounds like a Thumb. You either love it or hate it, and I absolutely adore it.
Edit: Forgot to mention: the previous owner had the bass strung E-C - weird! I got it and was very confused when I wasn't able to tune the 5th string to a B. Ordered up some 45-135 Black Label's which should be here soon!
