Do any of you more experienced with the older models guys know what Bartolinis might be in this model? I have it for sale but really like the way it plays. I am thinking of changing the pickups and pre to see if that makes me like it more. (There isn't anything wrong with it mind you, I'm just not really feeling it for whatever reason).

Also, any ideas on what is out there that would be a direct fit for the holes left by the bart's removal?

Thanks

If you end up swapping the pickups I'd be interested in buying these if you want to sell them.

Question

Someone say something funny this is boring.
Does anyone use Zon strings I have never tried them .
I have been using DR hi beams and have been very pleased with them .I did not like the fat beams- too stiff.I do love Smith strings but have not used them for a long time .I was using slinkys on my Stingray and enjoyed them but like the DR strings better and feel they last longer than the slinkys.

I rotate between Zon nickels and TI jazz rounds (and very occasionally, DR Black Beauties) on all of my basses. The Zon nickels are really the best, though. <3

I've used Zon steels on mine and they seem to last quite awhile. They tend to be a bit bright though. My go to strings are Daddario nickels.

There was a thread the other day about a Ritter fretless that only had piezo pickups, no magnetic pickups, and the fretboard went from nut to bridge. That bass had these neon purple strings on it but I don't know who made them. Want those I do.

DM SR 2000's used to rule the roost for me, but lately I've been really diggin' Sadowsky Blue Steels a lot.

...

I use Steel Supersonics on my fretted 519 and DR Sunbeams on my fretless Sonus Elite... although, the nickle Supersonics that were on there were quite good, and I wouldn't think twice about throwing another set on there.

I used to put DR Black Beauties on my 519 and I liked them a lot, but I was so happy with the last set of steel Supersonics I put on there, I haven't really missed the DR's at all.

IME, steel strings never break in very well, compared to nickels... nickels retain a throatiness about them through the entire break-in period, well into the end of life... but steels seem to get an overall dullness in much quicker time frame.

The steel Supersonics last quite a long time... I honestly think they're pretty underrated.
