Ray Riendeau has a few of them... One is a brand new RR signature Mosaic 4 with a composite neck.

Check out the Facebook page... Some cool vids of various players playing it.

Thanks man. Yes that's my band in NYC. We all went to college together but live in 4 different states now. The lyricist is an interesting personality.

I did the fretless Agents of Venus tracks w a Zon Sonus 5er.

My band here in Iowa just put out a CD that has a different sound but more challenging musically. Check it out;

Thanks,

Dude, I still need to listen to that CD you gave me... I'm so lame!!

Anyhoo, I thought I'd spice up this thread with a little lefty pr0n for your viewing pleasure...

Nice angled body shot...

Headstock shot... I requested a reverse headstock (2 on top, 3 on bottom) so I could add a Hipshot D-Tuner to the B and E strings.

Joe Zon giving the bass a quick once-over after cutting the nut and making some adjustments. Not many people know this, but Joe is actually a really good player.

Here's an interesting shot that you might not get to see much... it's the finished bass surrounded by the original cutoffs from the raw body block.

Here's a great shot of the fingerboard without any strings and with a fresh rubdown with WD40. Yes, that's what is recommended on these fingerboards... crazy!

That's a beauty, Addison. I can't wait for my lefty VB-4, which hopefully will be coming soon with some fun mods... (spoilers!).

Yes, it's true. In fact, older Zons didn't even come with a neck adjuster (I think Joe hesitates to actually describe them as a truss rod). Even on the new models that do have adjusters, you can't get to it without removing the neck. The idea is, once you get the relief set where you like it, you should never ever have to touch it again.

I had a Sonus 5 fretless for years and it never budged even after experimenting with different strings.

Also had a Sonus 4 fretted and a Legacy 4 fretted w/o truss rods. Never had an issue. Even so, I'm glad my new one will have a truss rod because I like to tweak my necks to my taste. Once there they rarely need an adjustment.

I haven't adjusted the neck on my Modulus VJ since I got it in 2005. Composite just slams!

I've found this is less true with the set-neck basses, but luckily he is now building in an access port in the back of the body that makes life very easy.

Less true meaning exactly what? Just wanna' make sure I understand what you're saying about the set necks. The relief changes?

I've found that the set-necks are more susceptible to movement, thus require more frequent adjustments. My two bolt-ons have never needed to be touched more than once, but my set-necks have needed more occasional tweaks. A buddy with a newer Legacy has experienced the same.

Not a big deal, though. It's a lot easier to adjust the set-necks than the bolt-ons!

Wow, so if you had an older set-neck, without an adjuster, you probably had to be really selective as to which strings you used then, or did the set-necks always have an adjuster? I've never owned one, so I'm curious.
