| | | The top section over the fret board would get in the way if you use "thumb over" technique, which I do sometimes, and in the section the fret board is joined to the body. Other than that, it shows a lot of artsy design quality. On Facebook, where I found the photo, a person said...

You have to actually hear it to completely believe how much difference pickup position makes. I'm surprised more luthiers haven't experimented with it. This "windshield wiper" design is a very elegant solution.

Personally, the first pic would not be my first choice. If someone insisted on making one for me, I would ask that they at least soften the edges for actual playing comformt.
