You can look at it, play it and can completely check it out in person.
No shipping bs and you can deal with the person face to face.
I have found that the people that worry so much about buyers protection are the first ones that will try and screw the seller.

Alleva Coppolo basses haven't been used on countless songs throughout the decades. People romanticize vintage basses and guitars because they are what classic music was recorded with. While modern instruments might play nicer or have more features, they don't have the legacy that vintage instruments have. Modern made basses also aren't investments like vintage instruments are. Thats the stuff that makes them much more valuable. People want to re live the past and they pay for that experience. By your logic, i guess an original Rembrandt or Monet are just canvas and paint right? I could paint something too, with the same materials, but would it have the same essence, even if i was just as talented? Nope. |

The owner (son) is probably emotionaly attached to the bass cause it was his dads and believes it's worth $24K.

'Not sure if I've that before, but since people actually used them that way, it makes sense. Back on topic; it's worth what someone will pay for it. $24K? To some people that ain't no big thing.

Still, cool bass though. |

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?!
All I want to do is unload (no pun) those two things and all I get are kinky pictures of willing women wanting a date. And I bet those are a scam as well. CL sucks. | But you stay dream about them
Now serious
the seller now nothing about the base, except the exact price ???
when he was a serious seller, go to one off the serious shops and let it sell by them.
it will cost you a bit fee, but you're everybody is safe??

You want to pay $5K for a bass that's about 2 years from being classified as petrified wood, by all means. Just remember though, music is made by the person holding the instrument, not the instrument itself. Jamerson would still rock the house even if he was using a MIM or worse yet, a Squier Affinity. The magic is in the hands, not the axe. Learn to play whatever your holding, and you will always be on the money.
And seriously, someone here is comparing classical works of art from some of history's most famous artists to bass guitars? I don't think so buddy. Apples and oranges. Besides, most people couldn't spot a fake painting, just like most people can't tell what kind of bass you're playing, what kind of amp your using, or what brand of tubes you finally decided to settle on. No one can tell, and no one but you really cares. All the crowd wants is for the bass player to hold it down, not show off how snobby he is about his gear.

All the crowd wants is for the bass player to hold it down, not show off how snobby he is about his gear. | I figured you probably wouldn't get my analogy and try to be condescending towards me for making it. The point is, those classical works are more than just oil and canvas - just like vintage basses are more than just what you referred to them as - wood and metal, etc. You don't like vintage gear, we get it, but to call the whole entire vintage instrument market a sham and to say they aren't (or shouldn't be) any more valuable than today's production instruments is not worth arguing over. I wouldn't bother arguing with someone whether or not the world is flat or round either. So believe what you believe. The vintage instrument market will continue to exist and thrive without your participation. |

It's still made of wood, metal, and paint just like a modern Fender P, it's just old. Go buy an Alleva Coppolo for a fraction of the price and you'll get a better built bass than any old Fender. Jimmy uses only the finest aged woods, old fret wire, and custom wound p'ups.
These are my thoughts, not yours. | You're wrong. They're my thoughts, too.

I couldn't believe it when I got there and tried it out.
I even talked him down to a price more my style.
$100.00 and he threw in a set of new strings. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
