One of the greatest ebay ads

In the description the guy clearly says it's missing two strings, but it's hilarious when you first see it.

It looks like there might also be neck and pickup alignment issues... pretty funny stuff.

The pick up alignment is for "tonal" variety

I must admit, I played a First Act Bass in a local store once. The price tag of 329.99 caught my eye and I just had to see if it was a good buy
The verdict..... Absolute CRAP
Wavy neck, horrible finish and the action was about as low as the power line running into my roof.

Its no wonder why CL is flooded with "Entry" level Basses like that. They are unplayable, unless your free set up in cludes a new nut, a neck shim, a refret and a routed pocket to get the bridge closer to where it should be

Yeah, the few First Act instruments I've met have been scary-bad. Oddly, though, they apparently *can* do good stuff: Matt Pike of High On Fire plays a custom 7-string First Act g****r, for instance. I don't know why they don't take some fraction of that competence and apply it to their basic instruments to get something that at least, you know, *is* an instrument!

Two strings rather than four on this one seems like a 50% improvement, anyway...

Yep, I saw Matt with HOF once... killer show!

Apparently First Act has a Custom Shop, and uses cheapo instruments like the one above to act as overhead, so they can do pretty much whatever they want with their custom stuff.

That's exactly why I bought one of those basses a few months ago. I was putting together a Gene Simmons Halloween costume and didn't want to shell out the bucks for an Axe or Punisher. I saw the First Act on Ebay and picked it up for something like $50. The neck was junk; the fingerboard had started to come off and someone repaired it by driving 2 wooden pins all the way through. I replaced it with a spare I had in storage. After a setup, it played and sounded quite acceptable for a prop bass. I used it for half the night at my band's Halloween gig.

That extra fingerboard space is for doing bends.

It's all subjective, this bass is just as good as any Fodera on the market.

brand should be called "last act," as you won't be invited back.

I bet I could make that bass play just by adding an E and a G string.

$329.00?? I've never seen one that high before you should have seen how low they would go.

I'd be willing to pay about 6 dollars for one. And thats only if I needed one of the knobs off of it for a real Bass.
Maybe worth a few dollars more to smash it on stage if your band is into that.
The place I saw it at is a small shop that mainly deals with rentals and "band" instruments. They also sell 4 string sets of D'addario nickels for........ 39.99$... That's not even the 2 pack
its up to the consumer to research their purchases in advance, so I can blame them. They are located on wealthier side of town

Is it called First Act because only a bassist in a support band playing a gig in your backyard would play one? I like the body shape.
