It is sweet looking but looks or cosmetics don't really run the machine, see what its got inside and out and just as important is the playability and feel for you, feels good, sits and falls nice on you, thats pretty important as well.. Nice Bass though..

Looks kinda cool, but I haven't heard much on those here. Maybe you should edit the thread title and add "Lace Helix content". You might get more replies.

I don't know much, but what I do know is that the Lace Helix 4 I recently played was the most dismal POS I think I've ever played. I'm not using hyperbole, these are my least favorite basses from what I've played. Are these the "alumitone" pickups? Lace has made some great stuff, but these are horrible.

Look, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Check it out, make a deal if you love it. Just my opinion.

i'm running a couple of lace jazz-style alumitones in a short-scale warmoth-based bass. the pickups are very midrangey but still have lots of clarity both top and bottom. the bass is easily discernible in the mix both out front and onstage.

ime. cheers, ron

I just scored a Lace Helix 5 string fretless for $500. Needs some tweaking and I'll probably change the factory flats to Elixir rounds. Even at street price I'd call it a good bang for the buck. It saved me from removing the fingerboard from one of my Cirrus's and replacing it with an ebony fretless 'board.

Old thread, but "Jimmy crack corn". I just picked up a lace Neck through four on a whim. After some metal work on the saddles to get the action playable...holy crap....I love this bass! Maybe it's just new...but the other dozen are getting a lot of wall time these days. The tone is unique, it I like it..playability is fantastic. I put a GK3b pickup on it to play through the vb99...very fast neck... I don't see much on this site about these guitars, but if ya got one, would live to hear what you think...it's giving my Guild 302 and T40 a run for the favorite 4 spot, with the Rick nothing more than a wall hanging.
